رَبَّكَ
يَعْلَمُ
أَنَّكَ
تَقُومُ
أَدْنَىٰ
مِن
ثُلُثَىِ
ٱلَّيْلِ
وَنِصْفَهُۥ
وَثُلُثَهُۥ
وَطَآئِفَةٌ
مِّنَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
مَعَكَ
وَٱللَّهُ
يُقَدِّرُ
ٱلَّيْلَ
وَٱلنَّهَارَ
عَلِمَ
أَن
لَّن
تُحْصُوهُ
فَتَابَ
عَلَيْكُمْ
فَٱقْرَءُوا۟
مَا
تَيَسَّرَ
مِنَ
ٱلْقُرْءَانِ
عَلِمَ
أَن
سَيَكُونُ
مِنكُم
مَّرْضَىٰ
وَءَاخَرُونَ
يَضْرِبُونَ
فِى
ٱلْأَرْضِ
يَبْتَغُونَ
مِن
فَضْلِ
ٱللَّهِ
وَءَاخَرُونَ
يُقَٰتِلُونَ
فِى
سَبِيلِ
ٱللَّهِ
فَٱقْرَءُوا۟
مَا
تَيَسَّرَ
مِنْهُ
وَأَقِيمُوا۟
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
وَءَاتُوا۟
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
وَأَقْرِضُوا۟
ٱللَّهَ
قَرْضًا
حَسَنًا
وَمَا
تُقَدِّمُوا۟
لِأَنفُسِكُم
مِّنْ
خَيْرٍ
تَجِدُوهُ
عِندَ
ٱللَّهِ
هُوَ
خَيْرًا
وَأَعْظَمَ
أَجْرًا
وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟
ٱللَّهَ
إِنَّ
ٱللَّهَ
غَفُورٌ
رَّحِيمٌۢ

Ahmed Ali
Your Lord surely knows that you are occupied with your devotions for nearly two-thirds of the night, or half the night, or one-third of it, as do many others with you. Yet God prescribes the measure of night and day. He knows you cannot calculate it, and so turns to you in benevolence. So recite as much of the Qur´an as you can easily. He knows some among you will be sick, and some will be travelling over the earth in search of the bounty of God, and some fighting in the way of God. So read as much from it as you can easily, and be firm in devotion, pay the zakat, and lend a goodly loan to God. And what you send for yourself of the good, you will find it with God better and greater in reward. So ask for God´s forgiveness. Indeed God is forgiving and kind.
Shakir
Surely your Lord knows that you pass in prayer nearly two-thirds of the night, and (sometimes) half of it, and (sometimes) a third of it, and (also) a party of those with you; and Allah measures the night and the day. He knows that you are not able to do it, so He has turned to you (mercifully), therefore read what is easy of the Quran. He knows that there must be among you sick, and others who travel in the land seeking of the bounty of Allah, and others who fight in Allah´s way, therefore read as much of it as is easy (to you), and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and offer to Allah a goodly gift, and whatever of good you send on beforehand for yourselves, you will find it with Allah; that is best and greatest in reward; and ask forgiveness of Allah; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

بیشک تمہارا رب جانتا ہے کہ تم قیام کرتے ہو کبھی دو تہائی رات کے قریب، کبھی آدمی رات، کبھی تہائی اور ایک جماعت تمہارے ساتھ والی (ف۲۸) اور اللہ رات اور دن کا اندازہ فرماتا ہے، اسے معلوم ہے کہ اے مسلمانو! تم سے رات کا شمار نہ ہوسکے گا (ف۲۹) تو اس نے اپنی مہر سے تم پر رجوع فرمائی اب قرآن میں سے جتنا تم پر آسان ہو اتنا پڑھو (ف۳۰) اسے معلوم ہے کہ عنقریب کچھ تم میں سے بیمار ہوں گے اور کچھ زمین میں سفر کریں گے اللہ کا فضل تلاش کرنے (ف۳۱) اور کچھ اللہ کی راہ میں لڑتے ہوں گے (ف۳۲) تو جتنا قرآن میسر ہو پڑھو (ف۳۳) اور نماز قائم رکھو (ف۳۴) اور زکوٰة دو اور اللہ کو اچھا قرض دو (ف۳۵) اور اپنے لیے جو بھلائی آگے بھیجو گے اسے اللہ کے پاس بہتر اور بڑے ثواب کی پاؤ گے، اور اللہ سے بخشش مانگو، بیشک اللہ بخشنے والا مہربان ہے،
73:20 سورة المدثر
74:1

O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform),

O you who are clothed!

اے بالا پوش اوڑھنے والے! (ف۲)
74:1 قُمْ فَأَنذِرْ ٢

Arise and warn,

کھڑے ہوجاؤ (ف۳) پھر ڈر سناؤ (ف۴)
74:2 وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ ٣

Glorify your Lord,

And your Lord do magnify,

اور اپنے رب ہی کی بڑائی بولو (ف۵)
74:3 وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ ٤

Purify your inner self,

And your garments do purify,

اور اپنے کپڑے پاک رکھو (ف۶)
74:4 وَٱلرُّجْزَ فَٱهْجُرْ ٥
74:5

And banish all trepidation.
Shakir
And uncleanness do shun,

اور بتوں سے دور رہو،
74:5 وَلَا تَمْنُن تَسْتَكْثِرُ ٦
74:6
Ahmed Ali
Do not bestow favours in expectation of return,
Shakir
And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase,

اور زیادہ لینے کی نیت سے کسی پر احسان نہ کرو (ف۷)
74:6 وَلِرَبِّكَ فَٱصْبِرْ ٧
74:7
Ahmed Ali
And persevere in the way of your Lord.

And for the sake of your Lord, be patient.

اور اپنے رب کے لیے صبر کیے رہو (ف۸)
74:7 فَإِذَا نُقِرَ فِى ٱلنَّاقُورِ ٨

For when the trumpet blows

For when the trumpet is sounded,

پھر جب صور پھونکا جائے گا (ف۹)
74:8 فَذَٰلِكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَوْمٌ عَسِيرٌ ٩

It will be a day of distress,

That, at that time, shall be a difficult day,

تو وہ دن کڑا (سخت) دن ہے،
74:9 عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ غَيْرُ يَسِيرٍ ٠١

Dolorous for the unbelievers.

For the unbelievers, anything but easy.

کافروں پر آسان نہیں (ف۱۰)
74:10 ذَرْنِى وَمَنْ خَلَقْتُ وَحِيدًا ١١

Leave him to Me whom I created alone,

Leave Me and him whom I created alone,

اسے مجھ پر چھوڑ جسے میں نے اکیلا پیدا کیا (ف۱۱)
74:11 وَجَعَلْتُ لَهُۥ مَالًا مَّمْدُودًا ٢١

And gave him abundant wealth

And give him vast riches,

74:12 وَبَنِينَ شُهُودًا ٣١

And sons always present by his side,

And sons dwelling in his presence,

74:13 وَمَهَّدتُّ لَهُۥ تَمْهِيدًا ٤١

And made things easy for them.

And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably;

اور میں نے اس کے لیے طرح طرح کی تیاریاں کیں (ف۱۴)
74:14 ثُمَّ يَطْمَعُ أَنْ أَزِيدَ ٥١
74:15
Ahmed Ali
Yet he wants that I should give him more.
Shakir
And yet he desires that I should add more!
Ahmed Raza Khan
پھر یہ طمع کرتا ہے کہ میں اور زیادہ دوں (ف۱۵)
74:15 كَلَّآ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لِءَايَٰتِنَا عَنِيدًا ٦١
74:16
Ahmed Ali
Never. He is refractory of Our signs.
Shakir
By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications.

ہرگز نہیں (ف۱۶) وہ تو میری آیتوں سے عناد رکھتا ہے،
74:16 سَأُرْهِقُهُۥ صَعُودًا ٧١

Ahmed Ali
I shall inflict on him hardship,

I will make a distressing punishment overtake him.

قریب ہے کہ میں اسے آگ کے پہاڑ صعود پر چڑھاؤں،

74:18 فَقُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ ٩١

Ahmed Ali
May he be accursed, how he planned!
Shakir
But may he be cursed how he plotted;

تو اس پر لعنت ہو کیسی ٹھہرائی،
74:19 ثُمَّ قُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ ٠٢

Ahmed Ali
May be then be accursed, how he plotted!

Again, may he be cursed how he plotted;

پھر اس پر لعنت ہو کیسی ٹھہرائی،
74:20 ثُمَّ نَظَرَ ١٢

Then he looked around,

Then he looked,

پھر نظر اٹھا کر دیکھا،
74:21 ثُمَّ عَبَسَ وَبَسَرَ ٢٢

And frowned and puckered his brow,

Then he frowned and scowled,

پھر تیوری چڑھائی اور منہ بگاڑا،
74:22 ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ ٣٢

Ahmed Ali
Then turned his back and waxed proud,
Shakir
Then he turned back and was big with pride,
Ahmed Raza Khan
پھر پیٹھ پھیری اور تکبر کیا،
74:23 فَقَالَ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ يُؤْثَرُ ٤٢
74:24
Ahmed Ali
And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old,

~Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others);

پھر بولا یہ تو وہی جادو ہے اگلوں سے سیکھا،
74:24 إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا قَوْلُ ٱلْبَشَرِ ٥٢
74:25
Ahmed Ali
Nothing more than the speech of a man!"
Shakir
This is naught but the word of a mortal.
Ahmed Raza Khan
یہ نہیں مگر آدمی کا کلام (ف۱۷)
74:25 سَأُصْلِيهِ سَقَرَ ٦٢
74:26
Ahmed Ali
I will cast him into the fire of Hell.
Shakir
I will cast him into hell.
Ahmed Raza Khan
کوئی دم جاتا ہے کہ میں اسے دوزخ میں دھنساتا ہوں،
74:26 وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سَقَرُ ٧٢
74:27
Ahmed Ali
What do you think Hell-fire is?
Shakir
And what will make you realize what hell is?
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور تم نے کیا جانا دوزخ کیا ہے،
74:27 لَا تُبْقِى وَلَا تَذَرُ ٨٢
74:28
Ahmed Ali
It leaves nothing, nor does it spare;
Shakir
It leaves naught nor does it spare aught.

نہ چھوڑے نہ لگی رکھے (ف۱۸)
74:28 لَوَّاحَةٌ لِّلْبَشَرِ ٩٢
74:29
Ahmed Ali
It glows and burns the skin.
Shakir
It scorches the mortal.

آدمی کی کھال اتار لیتی ہے (ف۱۹)
74:29 عَلَيْهَا تِسْعَةَ عَشَرَ ٠٣

Over it are nineteen (guards).

Over it are nineteen.

اس پر اُنیس داروغہ ہیں (ف۲۰)
74:30 وَمَا جَعَلْنَآ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلنَّارِ إِلَّا مَلَٰٓئِكَةً وَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَيَزْدَادَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِيمَٰنًا وَلَا يَرْتَابَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَلِيَقُولَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ وَٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ مَاذَآ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَٰذَا مَثَلًا كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُودَ رَبِّكَ إِلَّا هُوَ وَمَا هِىَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَىٰ لِلْبَشَرِ ١٣
74:31
Ahmed Ali
We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind.
Shakir
And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals.

اور ہم نے دوزخ کے داروغہ نہ کیے مگر فرشتے، اور ہم نے ان کی یہ گنتی نہ رکھی مگر کافروں کی جانچ کو (ف۲۱) اس لیے کہ کتاب والوں کو یقین آئے (ف۲۲) اور ایمان والوں کا ایمان بڑھے (ف۲۳) اور کتاب والوں اور مسلمانوں کو کوئی شک نہ رہے اور دل کے روگی (مریض) (ف۲۴) اور کافر کہیں اس اچنبھے کی بات میں اللہ کا کیا مطلب ہے، یونہی اللہ گمراہ کرتا ہے جسے چاہے اور ہدایت فرماتا ہے جسے چاہے، اور تمہارے رب کے لشکروں کو اس کے سوا کوئی نہیں جانتا، اور وہ (ف۲۵) تو نہیں مگر آدمی کے لیے نصیحت،
74:31 كَلَّا وَٱلْقَمَرِ ٢٣
74:32

I say the truth, and call the moon to witness,

Nay; I swear by the moon,

ہاں ہاں چاند کی قسم،
74:32 وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذْ أَدْبَرَ ٣٣

Ahmed Ali
And the night when on the wane,

And the night when it departs,

اور رات کی جب پیٹھ پھیرے،
74:33 وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَآ أَسْفَرَ ٤٣

The morning when it is unveiled,

And the daybreak when it shines;

اور صبح کی جب اجا لا ڈالے (ف۲۶)
74:34 إِنَّهَا لَإِحْدَى ٱلْكُبَرِ ٥٣

That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs),

Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes),

بیشک دوزخ بہت بڑی چیزوں میں کی ایک ہے،
74:35 نَذِيرًا لِّلْبَشَرِ ٦٣

A warning for people --
Shakir
A warning to mortals,

آدمیوں کو ڈراؤ،
74:36 لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَ ٧٣
74:37
Ahmed Ali
Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind.
Shakir
To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اسے جو تم میں چاہے، کہ آگے آئے (ف۲۷) یا پیچھے رہے (ف۲۸)
74:37 كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ رَهِينَةٌ ٨٣

Ahmed Ali
Every soul is pledged to what it does,
Shakir
Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns,
Ahmed Raza Khan
ہر جان اپنی کرنی (اعمال) میں گروی ہے،
74:38 إِلَّآ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلْيَمِينِ ٩٣

Ahmed Ali
Except those of the right hand
Shakir
Except the people of the right hand,

مگر دہنی طرف والے (ف۲۹)
74:39 فِى جَنَّٰتٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ ٠٤

Sitting in the gardens, asking
Shakir
In gardens, they shall ask each other

باغوں میں پوچھتے ہیں،
74:40 عَنِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ١٤

Of evil-doers:
Shakir
About the guilty:

مجرموں سے،
74:41 مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِى سَقَرَ ٢٤
74:42
Ahmed Ali
"What was it that brought you to Hell?"
Shakir
What has brought you into hell?
Ahmed Raza Khan
تمہیں کیا بات دوزخ میں لے گئی،
74:42 قَالُوا۟ لَمْ نَكُ مِنَ ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ ٣٤
74:43
Ahmed Ali
They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations,

They shall say: We were not of those who prayed;

وہ بولے ہم (ف۳۰) نماز نہ پڑھتے تھے،
74:43 وَلَمْ نَكُ نُطْعِمُ ٱلْمِسْكِينَ ٤٤
74:44
Ahmed Ali
And did not feed the needy,

And we used not to feed the poor;
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور مسکین کو کھانا نہ دیتے تھے (ف۳۱)
74:44 وَكُنَّا نَخُوضُ مَعَ ٱلْخَآئِضِينَ ٥٤
74:45
Ahmed Ali
And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate,

And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses.

اور بیہودہ فکر والوں کے ساتھ بیہودہ فکریں کرتے تھے،
74:45 وَكُنَّا نُكَذِّبُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ ٦٤
74:46
Ahmed Ali
And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie

And we used to call the day of judgment a lie;

اور ہم انصاف کے دن کو (ف۳۲) جھٹلاتے رہے،
74:46 حَتَّىٰٓ أَتَىٰنَا ٱلْيَقِينُ ٧٤

Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us.

Till death overtook us.

یہاں تک کہ ہمیں موت آئی،
