Ahmed Ali
Lowered will be their eyes, disgrace overwhelming them. They had indeed been called to bow in homage when they were free of blame.
Shakir
Their looks cast down, abasement shall overtake them; and they were called upon to make obeisance indeed while yet they were safe.
Ahmed Raza Khan
نیچی نگاہیں کیے ہوئے (ف۴۹) ان پر خواری چڑھ رہی ہوگی، اور بیشک دنیا میں سجدہ کے لیے بلائے جاتے تھے (ف۵۰) جب تندرست تھے (ف۵۱)
68:43 فَذَرْنِى وَمَن يُكَذِّبُ بِهَٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ٤٤
68:44
Ahmed Ali
So leave those who deny this Discourse to Me. We shall lead them step by step to (ruin) in a way they will not know.
Shakir
So leave Me and him who rejects this announcement; We will overtake them by degrees, from whence they perceive not:
Ahmed Raza Khan
تو جو اس بات کو (ف۵۲) جھٹلاتا ہے اسے مجھ پر چھوڑ دو (ف۵۳) قریب ہے کہ ہم انہیں آہستہ آہستہ لے جائیں گے (ف۵۴) جہاں سے انہیں خبر نہ ہوگی،
68:44 وَأُمْلِى لَهُمْ إِنَّ كَيْدِى مَتِينٌ ٥٤
68:45
Ahmed Ali
Yet I will give them respite: Surely My plan is compact.
Shakir
And I do bear with them, surely My plan is firm.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور میں انہیں ڈھیل دوں گا، بیشک میری خفیہ تدبیر بہت پکی ہے (ف۵۵)
68:45 أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ ٦٤
68:46
Ahmed Ali
Do you ask for any compensation from them that they are burdened with want?
Shakir
Or do you ask from them a reward, so that they are burdened with debt?
Ahmed Raza Khan
یا تم ان سے اجرت مانگتے ہو (ف۵۶) کہ وہ چٹی کے بوجھ میں دبے ہیں (ف۵۷)
68:46 أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ ٧٤

Ahmed Ali
Or do they have knowledge of the unknown which they copy down?
Shakir
Or have they (the knowledge of) the unseen, so that they write (it) down?
Ahmed Raza Khan
یا ان کے پاس غیب ہے (ف۵۸) کہ وہ لکھ رہے ہیں (ف۵۹)
68:47 فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُن كَصَاحِبِ ٱلْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌ ٨٤
68:48
Ahmed Ali
So wait with patience for the judgement of your Lord, and do not be like (onah) of the fish who called (to his Lord) when he was choked with anger.
Shakir
So wait patiently for the judgment of your Lord, and be not like the companion of the fish, when he cried while he was in distress.
Ahmed Raza Khan
تو تم اپنے رب کے حکم کا انتظار کر و (ف۶۰) اور اس مچھلی والے کی طرح نہ ہونا (ف۶۱) جب اس حال میں پکارا کہ اس کا دل گھٹ رہا تھا (ف۶۲)
68:48 لَّوْلَآ أَن تَدَٰرَكَهُۥ نِعْمَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ لَنُبِذَ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ مَذْمُومٌ ٩٤
68:49
Ahmed Ali
Had it not been for a favour from his Lord he would have been cast blame-worthy on a barren plain.
Shakir
Were it not that favor from his Lord had overtaken him, he would certainly have been cast down upon the naked Found while he was blamed.

اگر اس کے رب کی نعمت اس کی خبر کو نہ پہنچ جاتی (ف۶۳) تو ضرور میدان پر پھینک دیا جاتا الزام دیا ہوا (ف۶۴)
68:49 فَٱجْتَبَٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَجَعَلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ ٠٥
68:50
Ahmed Ali
Then his Lord chose him and placed him among the upright.
Shakir
Then his Lord chose him, and He made him of the good.
Ahmed Raza Khan
تو اسے اس کے رب نے چن لیا اور اپنے قربِ خاص کے سزاواروں (حقداروں) میں کرلیا،
68:50 وَإِن يَكَادُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَٰرِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا۟ ٱلذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُۥ لَمَجْنُونٌ ١٥
68:51
Ahmed Ali
But the unbelievers would like to stare you out of balance when they hear the warning, and say: "Surely he is possessed;"
Shakir
And those who disbelieve would almost smite you with their eyes when they hear the reminder, and they say: Most surely he is mad.

اور ضرور کافر تو ایسے معلوم ہوتے ہیں کہ گویا اپنی بد نظر لگا کر تمہیں گرادیں گے جب قرآن سنتے ہیں (ف۶۵) اور کہتے ہیں (ف۶۶) یہ ضرور عقل سے دور ہیں،
68:51 وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٢٥
68:52
Ahmed Ali
Whilst it is no more than reminder for the people of the world.
Shakir
And it is naught but a reminder to the nations.

اور وہ (ف۶۷) تو نہیں مگر نصیحت سارے جہاں کے لیے (ف۶۸)

What is the sure calamity!

کیسی وہ حق ہونے والی (ف۳)
69:2 وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ ٣

Ahmed Ali
What do you comprehend by the concrete reality?
Shakir
And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is!

اور تم نے کیا جانا کیسی وہ حق ہونے والی (ف۴)
69:3 كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ ٤
69:4
Ahmed Ali
The Thamud and ´Ad denied the consequential calamity.
Shakir
Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie.
Ahmed Raza Khan
ثمود اور عاد نے اس سخت صدمہ دینے والی کو جھٹلایا،
69:4 فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ ٥
69:5
Ahmed Ali
So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning;
Shakir
Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment.

تو ثمود تو ہلاک کیے گئے حد سے گزری ہوئی چنگھاڑ سے (ف۵)
69:5 وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ ٦
69:6
Ahmed Ali
And the ´Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind
Shakir
And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast.

اور رہے عاد وہ ہلاک کیے گئے نہایت سخت گرجتی آندھی سے،
69:6 سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ ٧
69:7
Ahmed Ali
Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees.
Shakir
Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms.

وہ ان پر قوت سے لگادی سات راتیں اور آٹھ دن (ف۶) لگاتار تو ان لوگوں کو ان میں (ف۷) دیکھو بچھڑے ہوئے (ف۸) گویا وہ کھجور کے ڈھنڈ (سوکھے تنے) ہیں گرے ہوئے،
69:7 فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍ ٨

Do you see any trace of them?
Shakir
Do you then see of them one remaining?

تو تم ان میں کسی کو بچا ہوا دیکھتے ہو (ف۹)

Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes.
Shakir
And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins.

اور فرعون اور اس سے اگلے (ف۱۰) اور الٹنے والی بستیاں (ف۱۱) خطا لائے (ف۱۲)
69:9 فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً ٠١
69:10
Ahmed Ali
When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment.
Shakir
And they disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment.

تو انہوں نے اپنے رب کے رسولوں کا حکم نہ مانا (ف۱۳) تو اس نے انہیں بڑھی چڑھی گرفت سے پکڑا،
69:10 إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلْمَآءُ حَمَلْنَٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْجَارِيَةِ ١١
69:11
Ahmed Ali
When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark,
Shakir
Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high,
Ahmed Raza Khan
بیشک جب پانی نے سر اٹھایا تھا (ف۱۴) ہم نے تمہیں (ف۱۵) کشتی میں سوار کیا (ف۱۶)
69:11 لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌ وَٰعِيَةٌ ٢١
69:12
Ahmed Ali
In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it.
Shakir
So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it.
Ahmed Raza Khan
کہ اسے (ف۱۷) تمہارے لیے یادگار کریں (ف۱۸) اور اسے محفوظ رکھے وہ کان کہ سن کر محفوظ رکھتا ہو (ف۱۹)
69:12 فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ ٣١
69:13
Ahmed Ali
When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet,
Shakir
And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast,
Ahmed Raza Khan
پھرجب صور پھونک دیا جائے ایک دم،
69:13 وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَٰحِدَةً ٤١
69:14
Ahmed Ali
And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow,
Shakir
And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing.

اور زمین اور پہاڑ اٹھا کر دفعتا ً چُورا کردیے جائیں،
69:14 فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ ٥١
69:15
Ahmed Ali
On that Day will come what is to come.
Shakir
On that day shall the great event come to pass,
Ahmed Raza Khan
وہ دن ہے کہ ہو پڑے گی وہ ہونے والی (ف۲۰)
69:15 وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ ٦١
69:16
Ahmed Ali
The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces.
Shakir
And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail,
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور آسمان پھٹ جائے گا تو اس دن اس کا پتلا حال ہوگا (ف۲۱)
69:16 وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَٰنِيَةٌ ٧١
69:17
Ahmed Ali
On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord´s throne aloft.
Shakir
And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above ) I them eight shall bear on that day your Lord´s power.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور فرشتے اس کے کناروں پر کھڑے ہوں گے (ف۲۲) اور اس دن تمہارے رب کا عرش اپنے اوپر آٹھ فرشتے اٹھائیں گے (ف۲۳)
69:17 يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ ٨١
69:18
Ahmed Ali
You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed.
Shakir
On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اس دن تم سب پیش ہو گے (ف۲۴) کہ تم میں کوئی چھپنے والی جان چھپ نہ سکے گی،
69:18 فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَٰبِيَهْ ٩١
69:19
Ahmed Ali
He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger.
Shakir
Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book:

تو وہ جو اپنا نامہٴ اعمال دہنے ہاتھ میں دیا جائے گا (ف۲۵) کہے گا لو میرے نامہٴ اعمال پڑھو،
69:19 إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ ٠٢
69:20
Ahmed Ali
I was certain I´ll be given my account."
Shakir
Surely I knew that I shall meet my account.
Ahmed Raza Khan
مجھے یقین تھا کہ میں اپنے حساب کو پہنچوں گا (ف۲۶)
69:20 فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ ١٢
69:21
Ahmed Ali
So he shall have an agreeable life
Shakir
So he shall be in a life of pleasure,
Ahmed Raza Khan
تو وہ من مانتے چین میں ہے،
69:21 فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ ٢٢
69:22

In high empyrean
Shakir
In a lofty garden,
Ahmed Raza Khan
بلند باغ میں،
69:22 قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ ٣٢
69:23
Ahmed Ali
With fruits hanging low within reach,
Shakir
The fruits of which are near at hand:
Ahmed Raza Khan
جس کے خوشے جھکے ہوئے (ف۲۷)
69:23 كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ ٤٢
69:24
Ahmed Ali
(And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore."
Shakir
Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by.
Ahmed Raza Khan
کھاؤ اور پیو رچتا ہوا صلہ اس کا جو تم نے گزرے دنوں میں آگے بھیجا (ف۲۸)
69:24 وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَٰبِيَهْ ٥٢
69:25
Ahmed Ali
But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger,
Shakir
And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me:
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور وہ جو اپنا نامہٴ اعمال بائیں ہاتھ میں دیا جائے گا (ف۲۹) کہے گا ہائے کسی طرح مجھے اپنا نوشتہ نہ دیا جاتا،
69:25 وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ ٦٢
69:26
Ahmed Ali
And not known my account!
Shakir
And I had not known what my account was:
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور میں نہ جانتا کہ میرا حساب کیا ہے،
69:26 يَٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَ ٧٢
69:27
Ahmed Ali
I wish death had put an end to me.
Shakir
O would that it had made an end (of me):
Ahmed Raza Khan
ہائے کسی طرح موت ہی قصہ چکا جاتی (ف۳۰)
69:27 مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ ٨٢
69:28
Ahmed Ali
Of no use was even my wealth.
Shakir
My wealth has availed me nothing:
Ahmed Raza Khan
میرے کچھ کام نہ آیا میرا مال (ف۳۱)
69:28 هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَٰنِيَهْ ٩٢
69:29
Ahmed Ali
Vanished has my power from me."
Shakir
My authority is gone away from me.
Ahmed Raza Khan
میرا سب زور جاتا رہا (ف۳۲)
69:29 خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ ٠٣
69:30
Ahmed Ali
"Seize him and manacle him,
Shakir
Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him,
Ahmed Raza Khan
اسے پکڑو پھر اسے طوق ڈالو (ف۳۳)
69:30 ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ ١٣
69:31
Ahmed Ali
Then cast him to be burnt in Hell;
Shakir
Then cast him into the burning fire,
Ahmed Raza Khan
پھر اسے بھڑکتی آگ میں دھنساؤ،
69:31 ثُمَّ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًا فَٱسْلُكُوهُ ٢٣
69:32
Ahmed Ali
And string him to a chain seventy cubits long.
Shakir
Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits.
Ahmed Raza Khan
پھر ایسی زنجیر میں جس کا ناپ ستر ہاتھ ہے (ف۳۴) اسے پُرو دو (ف۳۵)
69:32 إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٣٣
69:33
Ahmed Ali
He did not believe in God the supreme,
Shakir
Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great,
Ahmed Raza Khan
بیشک وہ عظمت والے اللہ پر ایمان نہ لاتا تھا (ف۳۶)
69:33 وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ ٤٣
69:34
Ahmed Ali
Nor urged others to feed the poor.
Shakir
Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور مسکین کو کھانے دینے کی رغبت نہ دیتا (ف۳۷)
69:34
