سورة الممتحنة
60:1
Ahmed Ali
O YOU WHO BELIEVE, do not take My enemies and your enemies as friends. You show kindness to them, but they reject the true way that has come to you. They expelled the Prophet and you, for you believe in God your Lord. If you have come out to struggle in My cause having sought My acceptance, (do not be) friendly with them in secret. I know what you hide and what you disclose. Whoever of you does this will have gone astray from the right path.
Shakir
O you who believe! do not take My enemy and your enemy for friends: would you offer them love while they deny what has come to you of the truth, driving out the Messenger and yourselves because you believe in Allah, your Lord? If you go forth struggling hard in My path and seeking My pleasure, would you manifest love to them? And I know what you conceal and what you manifest; and whoever of you does this, he indeed has gone astray from the straight path.

اے ایمان والو میرے اور اپنے دشمنوں کو دوست نہ بناؤ (ف۲) تم انہیں خبریں پہنچاتے ہو دوستی سے حالانکہ وہ منکر ہیں اس حق کے جو تمہارے پاس آیا (ف۳) گھر سے جدا کرتے ہیں (ف۴) رسول کو اور تمہیں اس پر کہ تم اپنے رب پر ایمان لائے، اگر تم نکلے ہو میری راہ میں جہاد کرنے اور میری رضا چاہنے کو تو ان سے دوستی نہ کرو تم انہیں خفیہ پیامِ محبت بھیجتے ہو، اور میں خوب جانتا ہوں جو تم چھپاؤ اور جو ظاہر کرو، اور تم میں جو ایسا کرے بیشک وہ سیدھی راہ سے بہکا،
60:1 إِن يَثْقَفُوكُمْ يَكُونُوا۟ لَكُمْ أَعْدَآءً وَيَبْسُطُوٓا۟ إِلَيْكُمْ أَيْدِيَهُمْ وَأَلْسِنَتَهُم بِٱلسُّوٓءِ وَوَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تَكْفُرُونَ ٢
60:2
Ahmed Ali
If they gain ascendancy over you, they will become your enemies, and employ their hands and tongues with evil designs, and wish that you also became disbelievers.
Shakir
If they find you, they will be your enemies, and will stretch forth towards you their hands and their tongues with evil, and they ardently desire that you may disbelieve.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اگر تمہیں پائیں (ف۵) تو تمہارے دشمن ہوں گے اور تمہاری طرف اپنے ہاتھ (ف۶) اور اپنی زبانیں (ف۷) برائی کے ساتھ دراز کریں گے اور ان کی تمنا ہے کہ کسی طرح تم کافر ہوجاؤ (ف۸)
60:2 لَن تَنفَعَكُمْ أَرْحَامُكُمْ وَلَآ أَوْلَٰدُكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَكُمْ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ ٣
60:3
Ahmed Ali
Neither your blood relations nor your children will be of any avail to you on the Day of Resurrection. He will judge between you, for God sees what you do.
Shakir
Your relationship would not profit you, nor your children on the day of resurrection; He will decide between you; and Allah sees what you do.
Ahmed Raza Khan
ہرگز کام نہ آئیں گے تمہیں تمہارے رشتے اور نہ تمہاری اولاد (ف۹) قیامت کے دن، تمہیں ان سے الگ کردے گا (ف۱۰) اور اللہ تمہارے کام دیکھ رہا ہے،
60:3 قَدْ كَانَتْ لَكُمْ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ فِىٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَٱلَّذِينَ مَعَهُۥٓ إِذْ قَالُوا۟ لِقَوْمِهِمْ إِنَّا بُرَءَٰٓؤُا۟ مِنكُمْ وَمِمَّا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَفَرْنَا بِكُمْ وَبَدَا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُ ٱلْعَدَٰوَةُ وَٱلْبَغْضَآءُ أَبَدًا حَتَّىٰ تُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَحْدَهُۥٓ إِلَّا قَوْلَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ لِأَبِيهِ لَأَسْتَغْفِرَنَّ لَكَ وَمَآ أَمْلِكُ لَكَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن شَىْءٍ رَّبَّنَا عَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ أَنَبْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ ٤
60:4
Ahmed Ali
You have an excellent model in Abraham and those who were with him, when he said to his people: "We are through with you, and those you worship other than God. We reject you. Enmity and hate have come between you and us for ever, unless you believe in God the One," -- except for what he said to his father: "I shall ask forgiveness for you, but I have no power to prevail with God for you." "O Lord, we place our trust in You, and turn to You in penitence, and to You is our returning.
Shakir
Indeed, there is for you a good example in Ibrahim and those with him when they said to their people: Surely we are clear of you and of what you serve besides Allah; we declare ourselves to be clear of you, and enmity and hatred have appeared between us and you forever until you believe in Allah alone-- but not in what Ibrahim said to his father: I would certainly ask forgiveness for you, and I do not control for you aught from Allah-- Our Lord! on Thee do we rely, and to Thee do we turn, and to Thee is the eventual coming:

بیشک تمہارے لیے اچھی پیروی تھی (ف۱۱) ابراہیم اور اس کے ساتھ والوں میں (ف۱۲) جب انہوں نے اپنی قوم سے کہا (ف۱۳) بیشک ہم بیزار ہیں تم سے اور ان سے جنہیں اللہ کے سوا پوجتے ہو، ہم تمہارے منکر ہوئے (ف۱۴) اور ہم میں اور تم میں دشمنی اور عداوت ظاہر ہوگئی ہمیشہ کے لیے جب تک تم ایک اللہ پر ایمان نہ لاؤ مگر ابراہیم کا اپنے باپ سے کہنا کہ میں ضرور تیری مغفرت چاہوں گا (ف۱۵) اور میں اللہ کے سامنے تیر ے کسی نفع کا مالک نہیں (ف۱۶) اے ہمارے رب ہم نے تجھی پر بھروسہ کیا اور تیری ہی طرف رجوع لائے اور تیری ہی طرف پھرنا ہے (ف۱۷)
60:4 رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ٥
60:5
Ahmed Ali
O Lord, make us not an example of punishment for infidels, and forgive us, O Lord. You are all-mighty and all-wise."
Shakir
Our Lord! do not make us a trial for those who disbelieve, and forgive us, our Lord! surely Thou art the Mighty, the Wise.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اے ہمارے رب ہمیں کافروں کی آزمائش میں نہ ڈال (ف۱۸) اور ہمیں بخش دے، اے ہمارے رب بیشک تو ہی عزت و حکمت والا ہے،

Those of you who have hope in God and the Last Day have certainly a good example in them. But whosoever turns away, then surely God is above concern, worthy of praise.
Shakir
Certainly there is for you in them a good example, for him who fears Allah and the last day; and whoever turns back, then surely Allah is the Self-sufficient, the Praised.
Ahmed Raza Khan
بیشک تمہارے لیے (ف۱۹) ان میں اچھی پیروی تھی (ف۲۰) اسے جو اللہ اور پچھلے دن کا امیدوار ہو (ف۲۱) اور جو منہ پھیرے (ف۲۲) تو بیشک اللہ ہی بے نیاز ہے سب خوبیوں سراہا،
60:6 ۞ عَسَى ٱللَّهُ أَن يَجْعَلَ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَ ٱلَّذِينَ عَادَيْتُم مِّنْهُم مَّوَدَّةً وَٱللَّهُ قَدِيرٌ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ ٧
60:7
Ahmed Ali
It maybe that God will create love between you and your enemies. God is all-powerful, and God is forgiving, ever-merciful.
Shakir
It may be that Allah will bring about friendship between you and those whom you hold to be your enemies among them; and Allah is Powerful; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

قریب ہے کہ اللہ تم میں اور ان میں جو ان میں سے (ف۲۳) تمہارے دشمن ہیں دوستی کردے (ف۲۴) اور اللہ قادر ہے (ف۲۵) اور بخشنے والا مہربان ہے،
60:7 لَّا يَنْهَىٰكُمُ ٱللَّهُ عَنِ ٱلَّذِينَ لَمْ يُقَٰتِلُوكُمْ فِى ٱلدِّينِ وَلَمْ يُخْرِجُوكُم مِّن دِيَٰرِكُمْ أَن تَبَرُّوهُمْ وَتُقْسِطُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُقْسِطِينَ ٨
60:8
Ahmed Ali
God does not forbid you from being kind and acting justly towards those who did not fight over faith with you, nor expelled you from your homes. God indeed loves those who are just.
Shakir
Allah does not forbid you respecting those who have not made war against you on account of (your) religion, and have not driven you forth from your homes, that you show them kindness and deal with them justly; surely Allah loves the doers of justice.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اللہ تمہیں ان سے (ف۲۶) منع نہیں کرتا جو تم سے دین میں نہ لڑے اور تمہیں تمہارے گھروں سے نہ نکالا کہ ان کے ساتھ احسان کرو اور ان سے انصاف کا برتاؤ برتو، بیشک انصاف والے اللہ کو محبوب ہیں،
60:8 إِنَّمَا يَنْهَىٰكُمُ ٱللَّهُ عَنِ ٱلَّذِينَ قَٰتَلُوكُمْ فِى ٱلدِّينِ وَأَخْرَجُوكُم مِّن دِيَٰرِكُمْ وَظَٰهَرُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ إِخْرَاجِكُمْ أَن تَوَلَّوْهُمْ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُمْ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ ٩
60:9
Ahmed Ali
He only forbids you from making friends with those who fought over faith with you and banished you from your homes, and aided in your exile. Whoever makes friends with them is a transgressor.
Shakir
Allah only forbids you respecting those who made war upon you on account of (your) religion, and drove you forth from your homes and backed up (others) in your expulsion, that you make friends with them, and whoever makes friends with them, these are the unjust.

اللہ تمہیں انہی سے منع کرتا ہے جو تم سے دین میں لڑے یا تمہیں تمہارے گھروں سے نکالا یا تمہارے نکالنے پر مدد کی کہ ان سے دوستی کرو (ف۲۷) اور جو ان سے دوستی کرے تو وہی ستمگار ہیں،
60:9 يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا جَآءَكُمُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتُ مُهَٰجِرَٰتٍ فَٱمْتَحِنُوهُنَّ ٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِإِيمَٰنِهِنَّ فَإِنْ عَلِمْتُمُوهُنَّ مُؤْمِنَٰتٍ فَلَا تَرْجِعُوهُنَّ إِلَى ٱلْكُفَّارِ لَا هُنَّ حِلٌّ لَّهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحِلُّونَ لَهُنَّ وَءَاتُوهُم مَّآ أَنفَقُوا۟ وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ أَن تَنكِحُوهُنَّ إِذَآ ءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ وَلَا تُمْسِكُوا۟ بِعِصَمِ ٱلْكَوَافِرِ وَسْـَٔلُوا۟ مَآ أَنفَقْتُمْ وَلْيَسْـَٔلُوا۟ مَآ أَنفَقُوا۟ ذَٰلِكُمْ حُكْمُ ٱللَّهِ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَكُمْ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ ٠١
60:10
Ahmed Ali
O believers, when believing women come over to you as refugees, then examine them. God alone is cognisant of their faith. If you find that they are believers, do not send them back to unbelievers. They are not lawful for them, nor are infidels lawful for believing women. Give the unbelievers what they have spent on them. There is no sin if you marry them provided you give their dowers to them. Do not retain your (marriage) ties with unbelieving women. Ask for the return of what you have spent (on them); and the unbelievers should ask for the return of what they have spent. This is the judgement of God. He judges between you. God is all-knowing and all-wise.
Shakir
O you who believe! when believing women come to you flying, then examine them; Allah knows best their faith; then if you find them to be believing women, do not send them back to the unbelievers, neither are these (women) lawful for them, nor are those (men) lawful for them, and give them what they have spent; and no blame attaches to you in marrying them when you give them their dowries; and hold not to the ties of marriage of unbelieving women, and ask for what you have spent, and kt them ask for what they have spent. That is Allah´s judgment; He judges between you, and Allah is Knowing, Wise.

اے ایمان والو جب تمہارے پاس مسلمان عورتیں کفرستان سے اپنے گھر چھوڑ کر آئیں تو ان کا امتحان کرو (ف۲۸) اللہ ان کے ایمان کا حال بہتر جانتا ہے، پھر اگر تمہیں ایمان والیاں معلوم ہوں تو انہیں کافروں کو واپس نہ دو، نہ یہ (ف۲۹) انہیں حلال (ف۳۰) نہ وہ انہیں حلال (ف۳۱) اور ان کے کافر شوہروں کو دے دو جو ان کا خرچ ہوا (ف۳۲) اور تم پر کچھ گناہ نہیں کہ ان سے نکاح کرلو (ف۳۳) جب ان کے مہر انہیں دو (ف۳۴) اور کافرنیوں کے نکاح پر جمے نہ رہو (ف۳۵) اور مانگ لو جو تمہارا خرچ ہوا (ف۳۶) اور کافر مانگ لیں جو انہوں نے خرچ کیا (ف۳۷) یہ اللہ کا حکم ہے، وہ تم میں فیصلہ فرماتا ہے، اور اللہ علم و حکمت والا ہے،
60:10 وَإِن فَاتَكُمْ شَىْءٌ مِّنْ أَزْوَٰجِكُمْ إِلَى ٱلْكُفَّارِ فَعَاقَبْتُمْ فَـَٔاتُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ذَهَبَتْ أَزْوَٰجُهُم مِّثْلَ مَآ أَنفَقُوا۟ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنتُم بِهِۦ مُؤْمِنُونَ ١١
60:11
Ahmed Ali
If any of your women go away to the unbelievers, and you succeed in your turn (and have a chance of getting spoils), then give to those whose wives have so gone away as much as they had spent on them; but take heed and fear God in whom you believe.
Shakir
And if anything (out of the dowries) of your wives has passed away from you to the unbelievers, then your turn comes, give to those whose wives have gone away the like of what they have spent, and be careful of (your duty to) Allah in Whom you believe.

اور اگر مسلمانوں کے ہاتھ سے کچھ عورتیں کافروں کی طرف نکل جائیں (ف۳۸) پھر تم کافروں کو سزا دو (ف۳۹) تو جن کی عورتیں جاتی رہی تھیں (ف۴۰) غنیمت میں سے انہیں اتنا دیدو جو ان کا خرچ ہوا تھا (ف۴۱) اور اللہ سے ڈرو جس پر تمہیں ایمان ہے،
