Ahmed Ali
(God) said: "This is right by Me, and what I say is right.
Shakir
He said: The truth then is and the truth do I speak:

فرمایا تو سچ یہ ہے اور میں سچ ہی فرماتا ہوں،
38:84 لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنكَ وَمِمَّن تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ ٥٨
38:85
Ahmed Ali
I will fill up Hell with you together with those who follow you."
Shakir
That I will most certainly fill hell with you and with those among them who follow you, all.
Ahmed Raza Khan
بیشک میں ضرور جہنم بھردوں گا تجھ سے (ف۱۰۴) اور ان میں سے (ف۱۰۵) جتنے تیری پیروی کریں گے سب سے،
38:85 قُلْ مَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُتَكَلِّفِينَ ٦٨

Ahmed Ali
Say: "I do not ask any compensation of you for it, nor am I a specious pretender.
Shakir
Say: I do not ask you for any reward for it; nor am I of those who affect:

تم فرماؤ میں اس قرآن پر تم سے کچھ اجر نہیں مانگتا اور میں بناوٹ والوں سے نہیں،
38:86 إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٧٨
38:87
Ahmed Ali
This is only a warning for mankind.
Shakir
It is nothing but a reminder to the nations;

وہ تو نہیں مگر نصیحت سارے جہان کے لیے،
38:87 وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ نَبَأَهُۥ بَعْدَ حِينٍۭ ٨٨

You will come to know its truth in time."

And most certainly you will come to know about it after a time.

THE REVELATION OF this Book is from God, the mighty and all-wise.

The revelation of the Book is from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise.

کتاب (ف۲) اتارنا ہے اللہ عزت و حکمت والے کی طرف سے،
39:1 إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ فَٱعْبُدِ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصًا لَّهُ ٱلدِّينَ ٢
39:2
Ahmed Ali
We have revealed to you the Scripture with exactitude; so worship God with devotion all exclusive for Him.
Shakir
Surely We have revealed to you the Book with the truth, therefore serve Allah, being sincere to Him in obedience.
Ahmed Raza Khan
بیشک ہم نے تمہاری طرف (ف۳) یہ کتاب حق کے ساتھ اتاری تو اللہ کو کو پوجو نرے اس کے بندے ہوکر،
39:2 أَلَا لِلَّهِ ٱلدِّينُ ٱلْخَالِصُ وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ مَا نَعْبُدُهُمْ إِلَّا لِيُقَرِّبُونَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ زُلْفَىٰٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ فِى مَا هُمْ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى مَنْ هُوَ كَٰذِبٌ كَفَّارٌ ٣
39:3
Ahmed Ali
Remember that devotion is exclusively for God. Those who have taken protectors other than Him, say: "We worship them that they may bring us nearer to God." Surely God will judge between them in what they are differing about. Verily God does not show the way to an ungrateful liar.
Shakir
Now, surely, sincere obedience is due to Allah (alone) and (as for) those who take guardians besides Him, (saying), We do not serve them save that they may make us nearer to Allah, surely Allah will judge between them in that in which they differ; surely Allah does not guide him aright who is a liar, ungrateful.

ہاں خالص اللہ ہی کی بندگی ہے (ف۴) اور وہ جنہوں نے اس کے سوا اور والی بنالیے (ف۵) کہتے ہیں ہم تو انہیں (ف۶) صرف اتنی بات کے لیے پوجتے ہیں کہ یہ ہمیں اللہ کے پاس نزدیک کردیں، اللہ ان پر فیصلہ کردے گا اس بات کا جس میں اختلاف کررہے ہیں (ف۷) بیشک اللہ راہ نہیں دیتا اسے جو جھوٹا بڑا ناشکرا ہو (ف۸)
39:3 لَّوْ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ أَن يَتَّخِذَ وَلَدًا لَّٱصْطَفَىٰ مِمَّا يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْوَٰحِدُ ٱلْقَهَّارُ ٤
39:4
Ahmed Ali
Had God pleased to take a son, He could have chosen whom He liked from among those He has created. Glory be to Him. He is God, the one, the omnipotent.
Shakir
If Allah desire to take a son to Himself, He will surely choose those He pleases from what He has created. Glory be to Him: He is Allah, the One, the Subduer (of all).
Ahmed Raza Khan
اللہ اپنے لیے بچہ بناتا تو اپنی مخلوق میں سے جسے چاہتا چن لیتا (ف۹) پاکی ہے اسے (ف۱۰) وہی ہے ایک اللہ (ف۱۱) سب پر غالب،
39:4 خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بِٱلْحَقِّ يُكَوِّرُ ٱلَّيْلَ عَلَى ٱلنَّهَارِ وَيُكَوِّرُ ٱلنَّهَارَ عَلَى ٱلَّيْلِ وَسَخَّرَ ٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ كُلٌّ يَجْرِى لِأَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى أَلَا هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْغَفَّٰرُ ٥
39:5
Ahmed Ali
He has created the heavens and the earth with precision. He folds the day up over the night, and folds the night up over the day. He has subjugated the sun and moon, (so that) each runs its appointed course. Is He not all-mighty and forgiving?
Shakir
He has created the heavens and the earth with the truth; He makes the night cover the day and makes the day overtake the night, and He has made the sun and the moon subservient; each one runs on to an assigned term; now surely He is the Mighty, the great Forgiver.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اس نے آسمان اور زمین حق بنائے رات کو دن پر لپیٹتا ہے اور دن کو رات پر لپیٹتا ہے (ف۱۲) اور اس نے سورج اور چاند کو کام میں لگایا ہر ایک، ایک ٹھہرائی میعاد کے لیے چلتا ہے (ف۱۳) سنتا ہے وہی صاحب عزت بخشنے والا ہے،

خَلْقًا
مِّنۢ
بَعْدِ
خَلْقٍ
فِى
ظُلُمَٰتٍ
ثَلَٰثٍ
ذَٰلِكُمُ
ٱللَّهُ
رَبُّكُمْ
لَهُ
ٱلْمُلْكُ
لَآ
إِلَٰهَ
إِلَّا
هُوَ
فَأَنَّىٰ
تُصْرَفُونَ

Ahmed Ali
He created you from a single cell, then from it created its mate; arid provided eight varieties of cattle for you. He formed you in the mother´s womb, formation after formation in three (veils of) darkness. He is God your Lord. His is the kingdom. There is no god other than He. How then can you turn away?
Shakir
He has created you from a single being, then made its mate of the same (kind), and He has made for you eight of the cattle in pairs. He creates you in the wombs of your mothers-- a creation after a creation-- in triple darkness; that is Allah your Lord, His is the kingdom; there is no god but He; whence are you then turned away?

اس نے تمہیں ایک جان سے بنایا (ف۱۴) پھر اسی سے اس کا جوڑ پیدا کیا (ف۱۵) اور تمہارے لیے چوپایوں میں سے (ف۱۶) آٹھ جوڑے تھے (ف۱۷) تمہیں تمہاری ماؤں کے پیٹ میں بناتا ہے ایک طرح کے بعد اور طرح (ف۱۸) تین اندھیریوں میں (ف۱۹) یہ ہے اللہ تمہارا رب اسی کی بادشاہی ہے، اس کے سوا کسی کی بندگی نہیں، پھر کہیں پھیرے جاتے ہو (ف۲۰)
39:6 إِن تَكْفُرُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَنِىٌّ عَنكُمْ وَلَا يَرْضَىٰ لِعِبَادِهِ ٱلْكُفْرَ وَإِن تَشْكُرُوا۟ يَرْضَهُ لَكُمْ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُم مَّرْجِعُكُمْ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ ٧
39:7
Ahmed Ali
If you are ungrateful, then remember! God is independent of you, and He does not favour ingratitude on the part of His creatures. If you are grateful He will be pleased with you. For no one who carries a burden bears another´s load; and your returning is to your Lord, when He will tell you what you used to do. Surely He knows what is in the hearts.
Shakir
If you are ungrateful, then surely Allah is Self-sufficient above all need of you; and He does not like ungratefulness in His servants; and if you are grateful, He likes it in you; and no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another; then to your Lord is your return, then will He inform you of what you did; surely He is Cognizant of what is in the breasts.

اگر تم ناشکری کرو تو بیشک اللہ بے نیاز ہے تم سے (ف۲۱) اور اپنے بندوں کی ناشکری اسے پسند نہیں، اور اگر شکر کرو تو اسے تمہارے لیے پسند فرماتا ہے (ف۲۲) اور کوئی بوجھ اٹھانے والی جان دوسرے کا بوجھ نہیں اٹھائے گی (ف۲۳) پھر تمہیں اپنے رب ہی کی طرف پھرنا ہے (ف۲۴) تو وہ تمہیں بتادے گا جو تم کرتے تھے (ف۲۵) بیشک وہ دلوں کی بات جانتا ہے،
39:7 ۞ وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ ضُرٌّ دَعَا رَبَّهُۥ مُنِيبًا إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلَهُۥ نِعْمَةً مِّنْهُ نَسِىَ مَا كَانَ يَدْعُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ مِن قَبْلُ وَجَعَلَ لِلَّهِ أَندَادًا لِّيُضِلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ قُلْ تَمَتَّعْ بِكُفْرِكَ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلنَّارِ ٨
39:8
Ahmed Ali
When man is afflicted with adversity he turns to his Lord, and prays to Him. But when He bestows His favour on him, he forgets what he prayed for before, and sets up others as compeers of God to mislead (people) from His way. Say: "Take advantage of your denying for a while: You will be among the inmates of Hell."
Shakir
And when distress afflicts a man he calls upon his Lord turning to Him frequently; then when He makes him possess a favor from Him, he forgets that for which he called upon Him before, and sets up rivals to Allah that he may cause (men) to stray off from His path. Say: Enjoy yourself in your ungratefulness a little, surely you are of the inmates of the fire.

اور جب آدمی کو کوئی تکلیف پہنچتی ہے (ف۲۶) اپنے رب کو پکارتا ہے اسی طرف جھکا ہوا (ف۲۷) پھر جب اللہ نے اسے اپنے پاس سے کوئی نعمت دی تو بھول جاتا ہے جس لیے پہلے پکارا تھا (ف۲۸) اور اللہ کے برابر والے ٹھہرانے لگتا ہے (ف۲۹) تاکہ اس کی راہ سے بہکادے تم فرماؤ (ف۳۰) تھوڑے دن اپنے کفر کے ساتھ برت لے (ف۳۱) بیشک تو دوزخیوں میں ہے،
39:8 أَمَّنْ هُوَ قَٰنِتٌ ءَانَآءَ ٱلَّيْلِ سَاجِدًا وَقَآئِمًا يَحْذَرُ ٱلْءَاخِرَةَ وَيَرْجُوا۟ رَحْمَةَ رَبِّهِۦ قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِى ٱلَّذِينَ يَعْلَمُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ إِنَّمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ ٩
39:9
Ahmed Ali
Can one who prays in the watches of the night, bowing in homage or standing attentive, fearful of the life to come, and hoping for the mercy of his Lord, (be like one who does not)? Say: "Can those who know, and those who do not know, be equal? Only they think who are wise."
Shakir
What! he who is obedient during hours of the night, prostrating himself and standing, takes care of the hereafter and hopes for the mercy of his Lord! Say: Are those who know and those who do not know alike? Only the men of understanding are mindful.
Ahmed Raza Khan
کیا وہ جسے فرمانبرداری میں رات کی گھڑیاں گزریں سجود میں اور قیام میں (ف۳۲) آخرت سے ڈرتا اور اپنے رب کی رحمت کی آس لگائے (ف۳۳) کیا وہ نافرمانوں جیسا ہو جائے گا تم فرماؤ کیا برابر ہیں جاننے والے اور انجان، نصیحت تو وہی مانتے ہیں جو عقل والے ہیں،
39:9 قُلْ يَٰعِبَادِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ فِى هَٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةٌ وَأَرْضُ ٱللَّهِ وَٰسِعَةٌ إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى ٱلصَّٰبِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ ٠١
39:10
Ahmed Ali
Tell them: "O my creatures who have come to belief, have fear of displeasing your Lord. There is good for those who do good in this world, and productive is God´s earth. Only those who persevere will get their reward measureless."
Shakir
Say: O my servants who believe! be careful of (your duty to) your Lord; for those who do good in this world is good, and Allah´s earth is spacious; only the patient will be paid back their reward in full without measure.

تم فرماؤ اے میرے بندو! جو ایمان لائے اپنے سے ڈرو، جنہوں نے بھلائی کی (ف۳۴) ان کے لیے اس دنیا میں بھلائی ہے (ف۳۵) اور اللہ کی زمین وسیع ہے (ف۳۶) صابروں ہی کو ان کا ثواب بھرپور دیا جائے گا بے گنتی (ف۳۷)
