وَلَوْ
يُؤَاخِذُ
ٱللَّهُ
ٱلنَّاسَ
بِمَا
كَسَبُوا۟
مَا
تَرَكَ
عَلَىٰ
ظَهْرِهَا
مِن
دَآبَّةٍ
وَلَٰكِن
يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ
إِلَىٰٓ
أَجَلٍ
مُّسَمًّى
فَإِذَا
جَآءَ
أَجَلُهُمْ
فَإِنَّ
ٱللَّهَ
كَانَ
بِعِبَادِهِۦ
بَصِيرًۢا

Ahmed Ali
If God were to seize men for their doings, not a living being would be left upon the earth. But He gives them respite for a time ordained. When their time is come, surely God will keep (the interest of) His creatures in view.
Shakir
And were Allah to punish men for what they earn, He would not leave on the back of it any creature, but He respites them till an appointed term; so when their doom shall come, then surely Allah is Seeing with respect to His servants.

اور اگر اللہ لوگوں کو ان کے کیے پر پکڑتا (ف۱۱۱) تو زمین کی پیٹھ پر کوئی چلنے والا نہ چھوڑتا لیکن ایک مقرر میعاد (ف۱۱۲) تک انہیں ڈھیل دیتا ہے پھر جب ان کا وعدہ آئے گا تو بیشک اللہ کے سب بندے اس کی نگاہ میں ہیں (ف۱۱۳)

36:1 وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ ٢
36:2
Ahmed Ali
I call to witness the Qur´an, custodian of all laws, --

I swear by the Quran full of wisdom

حکمت والے قرآن کی قسم،
36:2 إِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ٣
36:3
Ahmed Ali
That you are indeed one of those sent
Shakir
Most surely you are one of the messengers
Ahmed Raza Khan
بیشک تم (ف۲)
36:3 عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ ٤
36:4
Ahmed Ali
On a path that is straight, --
Shakir
On a right way.
Ahmed Raza Khan
سیدھی راہ پر بھیجے گئے ہو (ف۳)
36:4 تَنزِيلَ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ٥
36:5
Ahmed Ali
A revelation from the mighty, ever-merciful (God),

A revelation of the Mighty, the Merciful.
Ahmed Raza Khan
عزت والے مہربان کا اتارا ہوا،
36:5 لِتُنذِرَ قَوْمًا مَّآ أُنذِرَ ءَابَآؤُهُمْ فَهُمْ غَٰفِلُونَ ٦
36:6
Ahmed Ali
That you may warn a people whose ancestors had never been warned, who are therefore heedless.
Shakir
That you may warn a people whose fathers were not warned, so they are heedless.
Ahmed Raza Khan
تاکہ تم اس قوم کو ڈر سناؤ جس کے باپ دادا نہ ڈرائے گئے (ف۴) تو وہ بے خبر ہیں،
36:6 لَقَدْ حَقَّ ٱلْقَوْلُ عَلَىٰٓ أَكْثَرِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ٧
36:7
Ahmed Ali
The sentence is surely justified against most of them, for they do not believe.
Shakir
Certainly the word has proved true of most of them, so they do not believe.
Ahmed Raza Khan
بیشک ان میں اکثر پر بات ثابت ہوچکی ہے (ف۵) تو وہ ایمان نہ لائیں گے (ف۶)
36:7 إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا فِىٓ أَعْنَٰقِهِمْ أَغْلَٰلًا فَهِىَ إِلَى ٱلْأَذْقَانِ فَهُم مُّقْمَحُونَ ٨
36:8
Ahmed Ali
We will certainly put iron collars on their heel´s which will come up to their chins, so that they will not be able to raise their heads.
Shakir
Surely We have placed chains on their necks, and these reach up to their chins, so they have their heads raised aloft.
Ahmed Raza Khan
ہم نے ان کی گردنو ں میں طوق کردیے ہیں کہ وہ ٹھوڑیوں تک ہیں تو یہ اوپر کو منہ اٹھائے رہ گئے (ف۷)
36:8 وَجَعَلْنَا مِنۢ بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ سَدًّا وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ سَدًّا فَأَغْشَيْنَٰهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ ٩
36:9
Ahmed Ali
And We shall raise a barrier in front of them and a barrier behind them, and cover them over so that they will not be able to see.
Shakir
And We have made before them a barrier and a barrier behind them, then We have covered them over so that they do not see.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور ہم نے ان کے آگے دیوار بنادی اور ان کے پیچھے ایک دیوار اور انہیں اوپر سے ڈھانک دیا تو انہیں کچھ نہیں سوجھتا (ف۸)
36:9 وَسَوَآءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَأَنذَرْتَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تُنذِرْهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ٠١
36:10
Ahmed Ali
Whether you warn them or do not warn, it is all the same; they will not believe.
Shakir
And it is alike to them whether you warn them or warn them not: they do not believe.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور انہیں ایک سا ہے تم انہیں ڈراؤٕ یا نہ ڈراؤ وہ ایمان لانے کے نہیں،
36:10 إِنَّمَا تُنذِرُ مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ ٱلذِّكْرَ وَخَشِىَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنَ بِٱلْغَيْبِ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ وَأَجْرٍ كَرِيمٍ ١١
36:11
Ahmed Ali
You can only warn him who listens to the warning and fears Ar-Rahman secretly. So give him good news of forgiveness and a generous reward.
Shakir
You can only warn him who follows the reminder and fears the Beneficent Allah in secret; so announce to him forgiveness and an honorable reward.
Ahmed Raza Khan
تم تو اسی کو ڈر سناتے ہو (ف۹) جو نصیحت پر چلے اور رحمن سے بے دیکھے ڈرے، تو اسے بخشش اور عزت کے ثواب کی بشارت دو (ف۱۰)
36:11 إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْىِ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا۟ وَءَاثَٰرَهُمْ وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَٰهُ فِىٓ إِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ ٢١
36:12
Ahmed Ali
It is We indeed who bring back the dead to life, and write down what they send ahead (of their deeds), and traces that they leave behind. We keep an account of all things in a lucid register.
Shakir
Surely We give life to the dead, and We write down what they have sent before and their footprints, and We have recorded everything in a clear writing.
Ahmed Raza Khan
بیشک ہم مُردوں کو جِلائیں گے اور ہم لکھ رہے ہیں جو انہوں نے آگے بھیجا (ف۱۱) اور جو نشانیاں پیچھے چھوڑ گئے (ف۱۲) اور ہر چیز ہم نے گن رکھی ہے ایک بتانے والی کتاب میں (ف۱۳)

Narrate to them the example of the people of the city when the messengers came to it.
Shakir
And set out to them an example of the people of the town, when the messengers came to it.

اور ان سے نشانیاں بیان کرو اس شہر والوں کی (ف۱۴) جب ان کے پاس فرستادے (رسول) آئے، (ف۱۵)
36:13 إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْهِمُ ٱثْنَيْنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزْنَا بِثَالِثٍ فَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّآ إِلَيْكُم مُّرْسَلُونَ ٤١
36:14
Ahmed Ali
When We sent two of them they called them liars; so We sent a third to strengthen them. "We have been sent to you," they said.
Shakir
When We sent to them two, they rejected both of them, then We strengthened (them) with a third, so they said: Surely we are messengers to you.
Ahmed Raza Khan
جب ہم نے ان کی طرف دو بھیجے (ف۱۶) پھر انہوں نے ان کو جھٹلایا تو ہم نے تیسرے سے زور دیا (ف۱۷) اب ان سب نے کہا (ف۱۸) کہ بیشک ہم تمہاری طرف بھیجے گئے ہیں،
36:14 قَالُوا۟ مَآ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ مِن شَىْءٍ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا تَكْذِبُونَ ٥١
36:15
Ahmed Ali
"You are only men like us," they replied; "Ar-Rahman has not sent down any thing. You are speaking only lies."
Shakir
They said: You are naught but mortals like ourselves, nor has the Beneficent Allah revealed anything; you only lie.
Ahmed Raza Khan
بولے تم تو نہیں مگر ہم جیسے آدمی اور رحمن نے کچھ نہیں اتارا تم نرے جھوٹے ہو،
36:15 قَالُوا۟ رَبُّنَا يَعْلَمُ إِنَّآ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمُرْسَلُونَ ٦١
36:16
Ahmed Ali
(The messengers) said: "Our Lord knows that we have been sent to you.
Shakir
They said: Our Lord knows that we are most surely messengers to you.
Ahmed Raza Khan
وہ بولے ہمارا رب جانتا ہے کہ بیشک ضرور ہم تمہاری طرف بھیجے گئے ہیں،
36:16 وَمَا عَلَيْنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْبَلَٰغُ ٱلْمُبِينُ ٧١
36:17
Ahmed Ali
Our duty is to convey the message clearly."
Shakir
And nothing devolves on us but a clear deliverance (of the message).

اور ہمارے ذمہ نہیں مگر صاف پہنچا دینا (ف۱۹)
36:17 قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا تَطَيَّرْنَا بِكُمْ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهُوا۟ لَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُم مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ٨١
36:18
Ahmed Ali
They rejoined: "We feel you augur ill. If you do not desist, we shall stone you to death, and inflict a grievous punishment on you."
Shakir
They said: Surely we augur evil from you; if you do not desist, we will certainly stone you, and there shall certainly afflict vou a painful chastisement from us.
Ahmed Raza Khan
بولے ہم تمہیں منحوس سمجھتے ہیں (ف۲۰) بیشک اگر تم باز نہ آئے (ف۲۱) تو ضرور ہم تمہیں سنگسار کریں گے بیشک ہمارے ہاتھوں تم پر دکھ کی مار پڑے گی،
36:18 قَالُوا۟ طَٰٓئِرُكُم مَّعَكُمْ أَئِن ذُكِّرْتُم بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّسْرِفُونَ ٩١
36:19
Ahmed Ali
(The messengers) said: "The augury is within your own selves. Do you (consider it a bad omen) that you should be warned? You are a people guilty of excess."
Shakir
They said: Your evil fortune is with you; what! if you are reminded! Nay, you are an extravagant people.
Ahmed Raza Khan
انہوں نے فرمایا تمہاری نحوست تو تمہارے ساتھ ہے (ف۲۲) کیا اس پر بدکتے ہو کہ تم سمجھائے گئے (ف۲۳) بلکہ تم حد سے بڑھنے والے لوگ ہو (ف۲۴)
36:19 وَجَآءَ مِنْ أَقْصَا ٱلْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٌ يَسْعَىٰ قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ٠٢
36:20
Ahmed Ali
Then a man came running from the other side of the city. "O my people," he said, "follow the messengers.
Shakir
And from the remote part of the city there came a man running, he said: O my people! follow the messengers;
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور شہر کے پرلے کنارے سے ایک مرد دوڑتا آیا (ف۲۵) بولا، اے میری قوم! بھیجے ہوؤں کی پیروی کرو،
36:20 ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ مَن لَّا يَسْـَٔلُكُمْ أَجْرًا وَهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ ١٢
36:21
Ahmed Ali
Follow those who do not ask for any recompense of you, and are rightly guided.
Shakir
Follow him who does not ask you for reward, and they are the followers of the right course;
Ahmed Raza Khan
ایسوں کی پیروی کرو جو تم سے کچھ نیگ (اجر) نہیں مانگتے اور وہ راہ پر ہیں،
36:21 وَمَا لِىَ لَآ أَعْبُدُ ٱلَّذِى فَطَرَنِى وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ ٢٢
36:22
Ahmed Ali
Why should I not worship Him who brought me into being, to whom you will be brought back in the end?
Shakir
And what reason have I that I should not serve Him Who brought me into existence? And to Him you shall be brought back;
Ahmed Raza Khan
(ف۲۶) اور مجھے کیا ہے کہ اس کی بندگی نہ کروں جس نے مجھے پیدا کیا اور اسی کی طرف تمہیں پلٹنا ہے، (ف۲۷)
36:22 ءَأَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةً إِن يُرِدْنِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ بِضُرٍّ لَّا تُغْنِ عَنِّى شَفَٰعَتُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا يُنقِذُونِ ٣٢
36:23
Ahmed Ali
Should I take other gods apart from Him, who would neither be able to intercede for me nor save me if Ar-Rahman brings me harm?
Shakir
What! shall I take besides Him gods whose intercession, If the Beneficent Allah should desire to afflict me with a harm, shall not avail me aught, nor shall they be able to deliver me?
Ahmed Raza Khan
کیا اللہ کے سوا اور خدا ٹھہراؤں (ف۲۸) کہ اگر رحمٰن میرا کچھ برا چاہے تو ان کی سفارش میرے کچھ کام نہ آئے اور نہ وہ مجھے بچاسکیں،
36:23 إِنِّىٓ إِذًا لَّفِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ ٤٢
36:24
Ahmed Ali
In that case I would surely be in clear error.
Shakir
In that case I shall most surely be in clear error:
Ahmed Raza Khan
بیشک جب تو میں کھلی گمراہی میں ہو (ف۲۹)
36:24 إِنِّىٓ ءَامَنتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَٱسْمَعُونِ ٥٢
36:25
Ahmed Ali
I believe in your Lord, so listen to me."
Shakir
Surely I believe in your Lord, therefore hear me.
Ahmed Raza Khan
مقرر میں تمہارے رب پر ایمان لایا تو میری سنو (ف۳۰)
36:25 قِيلَ ٱدْخُلِ ٱلْجَنَّةَ قَالَ يَٰلَيْتَ قَوْمِى يَعْلَمُونَ ٦٢
36:26
Ahmed Ali
(But they stoned him to death.) It was said to him: "Enter Paradise;" and he said: "If only my people knew
Shakir
It was said: Enter the garden. He said: O would that my people had known
Ahmed Raza Khan
اس سے فرمایا گیا کہ جنت میں داخل ہو (ف۳۱) کہا کسی طرح میری قوم جانتی،
36:26 بِمَا غَفَرَ لِى رَبِّى وَجَعَلَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُكْرَمِينَ ٧٢
36:27
Ahmed Ali
How my Lord has forgiven me and made me one of those who are honoured!"
Shakir
Of that on account of which my Lord has forgiven me and made me of the honored ones!
Ahmed Raza Khan
جیسی میرے رب نے میری مغفرت کی اور مجھے عزت والوں میں کیا (ف۳۲)
