سورة الأحزاب
33:1
Ahmed Ali
O PROPHET FEAR God and do not follow the unbelievers and the hypocrites.
Shakir
O Prophet! be careful of (your duty to) Allah and do not comply with (the wishes of) the unbelievers and the hypocrites; surely Allah is Knowing, Wise;
Ahmed Raza Khan
اے غیب کی خبریں بتانے والے (نبی) (ف۲) اللہ کا یوں ہی خوف رکھنا اور کافروں اور منافقوں کی نہ سننا (ف۳) بیشک اللہ علم و حکمت والا ہے،
33:1 وَٱتَّبِعْ مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرًا ٢
33:2
Ahmed Ali
Follow what is revealed to you by your Lord. Verily God is all-knowing and all-wise.
Shakir
And follow what is revealed to you from your Lord; surely Allah is Aware of what you do;
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور اس کی پیروی رکھنا جو تمہارے رب کی طرف سے تمہیں وحی ہوتی ہے، اے لوگو! اللہ تمہارے کام دیکھ رہا ہے،
33:2 وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلًا ٣
33:3
Ahmed Ali
Trust in God. God is sufficient as guardian.
Shakir
And rely on Allah; and Allah is sufficient for a Protector.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور اے محبوب! تم اللہ پر بھروسہ رکھو، اور اللہ بس ہے کام بنانے والا،
33:3 مَّا جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لِرَجُلٍ مِّن قَلْبَيْنِ فِى جَوْفِهِۦ وَمَا جَعَلَ أَزْوَٰجَكُمُ ٱلَّٰٓـِٔى تُظَٰهِرُونَ مِنْهُنَّ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ وَمَا جَعَلَ أَدْعِيَآءَكُمْ أَبْنَآءَكُمْ ذَٰلِكُمْ قَوْلُكُم بِأَفْوَٰهِكُمْ وَٱللَّهُ يَقُولُ ٱلْحَقَّ وَهُوَ يَهْدِى ٱلسَّبِيلَ ٤
33:4
Ahmed Ali
God has not provided two hearts in the breast of a man, nor made your wives, whom you pronounce "mothers" (in order to divorce them), your real mothers, nor has He made your adopted sons your real sons. This is only what your lips pronounce. God says what is just, and shows the right way.
Shakir
Allah has not made for any man two hearts within him; nor has He made your wives whose backs you liken to the backs of your mothers as your mothers, nor has He made those whom you assert to be your sons your real sons; these are the words of your mouths; and Allah speaks the truth and He guides to the way.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اللہ نے کسی آدمی کے اندر دو دل نہ رکھے (ف۴) اور تمہاری ان عورتوں کو جنہیں تم کے برابر کہہ دو تمہاری ماں نہ بنایا (ف۵) اور نہ تمہارے لے پالکوں کو تمہارا بیٹا بنایا (ف۶) یہ تمہارے اپنے منہ کا کہنا ہے (ف۷) اور اللہ حق فرماتا ہے اور وہی راہ دکھاتا ہے (ف۸)
33:4 ٱدْعُوهُمْ لِءَابَآئِهِمْ هُوَ أَقْسَطُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ فَإِن لَّمْ تَعْلَمُوٓا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ فَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْ فِى ٱلدِّينِ وَمَوَٰلِيكُمْ وَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ فِيمَآ أَخْطَأْتُم بِهِۦ وَلَٰكِن مَّا تَعَمَّدَتْ قُلُوبُكُمْ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا ٥
33:5
Ahmed Ali
Call them by the names of their fathers. This is the right course in the sight of God. If you do not know their fathers, they are then your brothers in religion and your friends. It will not be a sin if you make a mistake, unless you do so intentionally; for God is forgiving and kind.
Shakir
Assert their relationship to their fathers; this is more equitable with Allah; but if you do not know their fathers, then they are your brethren in faith and your friends; and there is no blame on you concerning that in which you made a mistake, but (concerning) that which your hearts do purposely (blame may rest on you), and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
Ahmed Raza Khan
انہیں ان کے باپ ہی کا کہہ کر پکارو (ف۹) یہ اللہ کے نزدیک زیادہ ٹھیک ہے پھر اگر تمہیں ان کے باپ معلوم نہ ہوں (ف۱۰) تو دین میں تمہارے بھائی ہیں اور بشریت میں تمہارے چچا زاد (ف۱۱) اور تم پر اس میں کچھ گناہ نہیں جو نا دانستہ تم سے صادر ہوا (ف۱۲) ہاں وہ گناہ ہے جو دل کے قصد سے کرو (ف۱۳) اور اللہ بخشنے والا مہربان ہے،
33:5 ٱلنَّبِىُّ أَوْلَىٰ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَأَزْوَٰجُهُۥٓ أُمَّهَٰتُهُمْ وَأُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلَىٰ بِبَعْضٍ فِى كِتَٰبِ ٱللَّهِ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُهَٰجِرِينَ إِلَّآ أَن تَفْعَلُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَوْلِيَآئِكُم مَّعْرُوفًا كَانَ ذَٰلِكَ فِى ٱلْكِتَٰبِ مَسْطُورًا ٦
33:6
Ahmed Ali
The Prophet is closer to the faithful than they are themselves; and his wives are as their mothers. Yet blood relations are closer to one another according to God´s decree, more than (other) believers and the emigrants (who left their homes in the cause of God), but you should be kind to your friends. This is inscribed in the Book (of decrees).
Shakir
The Prophet has a greater claim on the faithful than they have on themselves, and his wives are (as) their mothers; and the possessors of relationship have the better claim in the ordinance of Allah to inheritance, one with respect to another, than (other) believers, and (than) those who have fled (their homes), except that you do some good to your friends; this is written in the Book.

یہ نبی مسلمانوں کا ان کی جان سے زیادہ مالک ہے (ف۱۴) اور اس کی بیبیاں ان کی مائیں ہیں (ف۱۵) اور رشتہ والے اللہ کی کتاب میں ایک دوسرے سے زیادہ قریب ہیں (ف۱۶) بہ نسبت اور مسلمانوں اور مہاجروں کے (ف۱۷) مگر یہ کہ تم اپنے دوستوں پر احسان کرو (ف۱۸) یہ کتاب میں لکھا ہے (ف۱۹)

Ahmed Ali
When We made the covenant with the prophets, and with you, as with Noah and Abraham, Moses and Jesus son of Mary, a binding covenant,
Shakir
And when We made a covenant with the prophets and with you, and with Nuh and Ibrahim and Musa and Isa, son of Marium, and We made with them a strong covenant
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور اے محبوب! یاد کرو جب ہم نے نبیوں سے عہد لیا (ف۲۰) اور تم سے (ف۲۱) اور نوح اور ابراہیم اور موسی ٰ اور عیسیٰ بن مریم سے اور ہم نے ان سے گاڑھا عہد لیا،
33:7 لِّيَسْـَٔلَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ عَن صِدْقِهِمْ وَأَعَدَّ لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا ٨
33:8
Ahmed Ali
(It was) so that God may ask the truthful of their sincerity. As for the infidels, He has prepared a painful punishment for them.
Shakir
That He may question the truthful of their truth, and He has prepared for the unbelievers a painful punishment.
Ahmed Raza Khan
تاکہ سچوں سے (ف۲۲) ان کے سچ کا سوال کرے (ف۲۳) اور اس نے کافروں کے لیے دردناک عذاب تیار کر رکھا ہے،
33:8 يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ جَآءَتْكُمْ جُنُودٌ فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا وَجُنُودًا لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرًا ٩
33:9
Ahmed Ali
O you who believe, remember the favours of God to you when an army came against you and We sent a wind against them and forces that you did not see. But God sees all that you do.
Shakir
O you who believe! call to mind the favor of Allah to you when there came down upon you hosts, so We sent against them a strong wind and hosts, that you saw not, and Allah is Seeing what you do.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اے ایمان والو! اللہ کا احسان اپنے اوپر یاد کرو (ف۲۴) جب تم پر کچھ لشکر آئے (ف۲۵) تو ہم نے ان پر آندھی اور وہ لشکر بھیجے جو تمہیں نظر نہ آئے (ف۲۶) اور اللہ تمہارے کام دیکھتا ہے (ف۲۷)
33:9 إِذْ جَآءُوكُم مِّن فَوْقِكُمْ وَمِنْ أَسْفَلَ مِنكُمْ وَإِذْ زَاغَتِ ٱلْأَبْصَٰرُ وَبَلَغَتِ ٱلْقُلُوبُ ٱلْحَنَاجِرَ وَتَظُنُّونَ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلظُّنُونَا۠ ٠١
33:10
Ahmed Ali
When they came upon you from above and below you, when the eyes were stupefied with horror, and hearts jumped to the throats, and you made wild suppositions about God.
Shakir
When they came upon you from above you and from below you, and when the eyes turned dull, and the hearts rose up to the throats, and you began to think diverse thoughts of Allah.
Ahmed Raza Khan
جب کافر تم پر آئے تمہارے اوپر سے اور تمہارے نیچے سے (ف۲۸) اور جبکہ ٹھٹک کر رہ گئیں نگاہیں (ف۲۹) اور دل گلوں کے پاس آگئے (ف۳۰) اور تم اللہ پر طرح طرح کے گمان کرنے لگے امید و یاس کے (ف۳۱)
33:10 هُنَالِكَ ٱبْتُلِىَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَزُلْزِلُوا۟ زِلْزَالًا شَدِيدًا ١١
33:11

The faithful were sorely tried there and were shaken completely,
Shakir
There the believers were tried and they were shaken with severe shaking.
Ahmed Raza Khan
وہ جگہ تھی کہ مسلمانوں کی جانچ ہوئی (ف۳۲) اور خوب سختی سے جھنجھوڑے گئے،
33:11 وَإِذْ يَقُولُ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ مَّا وَعَدَنَا ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ إِلَّا غُرُورًا ٢١
33:12
Ahmed Ali
When the hypocrites and those who were filled with doubt, said: "The promise of God and His Apostle was nothing but deceit."
Shakir
And when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts was a disease began to say: Allah and His Messenger did not promise us (victory) but only to deceive.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور جب کہنے لگے منافق اور جن کے دلوں میں روگ تھا (ف۳۳) ہمیں اللہ و رسول نے وعدہ نہ دیا تھا مگر فریب کا (ف۳۴)
33:12 وَإِذْ قَالَت طَّآئِفَةٌ مِّنْهُمْ يَٰٓأَهْلَ يَثْرِبَ لَا مُقَامَ لَكُمْ فَٱرْجِعُوا۟ وَيَسْتَـْٔذِنُ فَرِيقٌ مِّنْهُمُ ٱلنَّبِىَّ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّ بُيُوتَنَا عَوْرَةٌ وَمَا هِىَ بِعَوْرَةٍ إِن يُرِيدُونَ إِلَّا فِرَارًا ٣١
33:13
Ahmed Ali
When a section of them said: "O people of Yathrib, there is no place for you here, turn back;" and a section of them asked leave of the Prophet, saying: "Our homes lie exposed," -- while they were not exposed. Their only intention was to run away.
Shakir
And when a party of them said: O people of Yasrib! there is no place to stand for you (here), therefore go back; and a party of them asked permission of the prophet, saying. Surely our houses are exposed; and they were not exposed; they only desired to fly away.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور جب ان میں سے ایک گروہ نے کہا (ف۳۵) اے مدینہ والو! (ف۳۶) یہاں تمہارے ٹھہرنے کی جگہ نہیں (ف۳۷) تم گھروں کو واپس چلو اور ان میں سے ایک گروہ (ف۳۸) نبی سے اذن مانگتا تھا یہ کہہ کر ہمارے گھر بے حفاظت ہیں، اور وہ بے حفاظت نہ تھے، وہ تو نہ چاہتے تھے مگر بھاگنا،
33:13 وَلَوْ دُخِلَتْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنْ أَقْطَارِهَا ثُمَّ سُئِلُوا۟ ٱلْفِتْنَةَ لَءَاتَوْهَا وَمَا تَلَبَّثُوا۟ بِهَآ إِلَّا يَسِيرًا ٤١
33:14
Ahmed Ali
If the (enemy) had entered the city from every side and asked them to rise in revolt, they would have done so, and not hesitated but a little;
Shakir
And if an entry were made upon them from the outlying parts of it, then they were asked to wage war, they would certainly have done it, and they would not have stayed in it but a little while.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور اگر ان پر فوجیں مدینہ کے اطراف سے آئیں پھر ان سے کفر چاہتیں تو ضرور ان کا مانگا دے بیٹھتے (ف۳۹) اور اس میں دیر نہ کرتے مگر تھوڑی
33:14 وَلَقَدْ كَانُوا۟ عَٰهَدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مِن قَبْلُ لَا يُوَلُّونَ ٱلْأَدْبَٰرَ وَكَانَ عَهْدُ ٱللَّهِ مَسْـُٔولًا ٥١
33:15
Ahmed Ali
Whereas earlier they had made a promise to God that they would never turn their backs; and a promise made to God is answerable.
Shakir
And certainly they had made a covenant with Allah before, that) they would not turn (their) backs; and Allah´s covenant shall be inquired of.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور بیشک اس سے پہلے وہ اللہ سے عہد کرچکے تھے کہ پیٹھ نہ پھیریں گے، اور اللہ کا وعدہ پوچھا جائے گا (ف۴۰)
