Ahmed Ali
We have sent it down with truth, and with truth has (the Qur´an) come down. And We have sent you only to give good news and to warn.
Shakir
And with truth have We revealed it, and with truth did it come; and We have not sent you but as the giver of good news and as a warner.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور ہم نے قرآن کو حق ہی کے ساتھ اتارا اور حق وہی کے لیے اترا (ف۲۲۱) اور ہم نے تمہیں نہ بھیجا مگر خوشی اور ڈر سناتا،
17:105 وَقُرْءَانًا فَرَقْنَٰهُ لِتَقْرَأَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ عَلَىٰ مُكْثٍ وَنَزَّلْنَٰهُ تَنزِيلًا ٦٠١
17:106
Ahmed Ali
We have divided the Qur´an into parts that you may recite it to men slowly, with deliberation. That is why We sent it down by degrees.
Shakir
And it is a Quran which We have revealed in portions so that you may read it to the people by slow degrees, and We have revealed it, revealing in portions.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور قرآن ہم نے جدا جدا کرکے (ف۲۲۲) اتارا کہ تم اسے لوگوں پر ٹھہر ٹھہر کر پڑھو (ف۲۲۳) اور ہم نے اسے بتدریج رہ رہ کر اتارا (ف۲۲۴)
17:106 قُلْ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِهِۦٓ أَوْ لَا تُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ مِن قَبْلِهِۦٓ إِذَا يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ يَخِرُّونَ لِلْأَذْقَانِ سُجَّدًا ٧٠١
17:107
Ahmed Ali
Say: "Believe in it or do not believe: Those who were given knowledge before it bow in adoration when it is read out to them,
Shakir
Say: Believe in it or believe not; surely those who are given the knowledge before it fall down on their faces, making obeisance when it is recited to them.
Ahmed Raza Khan
تم فرماؤ کہ تم لوگ اس پر ایمان لاؤ یا نہ لاؤ (ف۲۲۵) بیشک وہ جنہیں اس کے اترنے سے پہلے علم ملا (ف۲۲۶) اب ان پر پڑھا جاتا ہے، ٹھوڑی کے بل سجدہ میں گر پڑتے ہیں،
17:107 وَيَقُولُونَ سُبْحَٰنَ رَبِّنَآ إِن كَانَ وَعْدُ رَبِّنَا لَمَفْعُولًا ٨٠١
17:108
Ahmed Ali
And say: "Glory be to our Lord. The promise of our Lord has indeed been fulfilled."
Shakir
And they say: Glory be to our Lord! most surely the promise of our Lord was to be fulfilled.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور کہتے ہیں پاکی ہے ہمارے رب کو بیشک ہمارے اب کا وعدہ پورا ہوتا تھا (ف۲۲۷)
17:108 وَيَخِرُّونَ لِلْأَذْقَانِ يَبْكُونَ وَيَزِيدُهُمْ خُشُوعًا۩ ٩٠١
17:109
Ahmed Ali
And weeping they kneel down, and this increases their humility.
Shakir
And they fall down on their faces weeping, and it adds to their humility.

اور تھوڑی کے بل گرتے ہیں (ف۲۲۸) روتے ہوئے اور یہ قرآن ان کے دل کا جھکنا بڑھاتا ہے، (ف۲۲۹) (السجدة) ۴
17:109 قُلِ ٱدْعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ أَوِ ٱدْعُوا۟ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنَ أَيًّا مَّا تَدْعُوا۟ فَلَهُ ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ وَلَا تَجْهَرْ بِصَلَاتِكَ وَلَا تُخَافِتْ بِهَا وَٱبْتَغِ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ سَبِيلًا ٠١١
17:110
Ahmed Ali
Say: "Call Him Allah or call Him Ar-Rahman; whatever the name you call Him by, all His names are beautiful." Do not say your prayers too loudly or in too low a voice, but follow a middle coarse.
Shakir
Say: Call upon Allah or call upon, the Beneficent Allah; whichever you call upon, He has the best names; and do not utter your prayer with a very raised voice nor be silent with regard to it, and seek a way between these.
Ahmed Raza Khan
تم فرماؤ اللہ کہہ کر پکارو رحمان کہہ کر، جو کہہ کر پکارو سب اسی کے اچھے نام ہیں (ف۲۳۰) اور اپنی نماز نہ بہت آواز سے پڑھو نہ بالکل آہستہ اور ان دنوں کے بیچ میں راستہ چاہو (ف۲۳۱)
17:110 وَقُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًا وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ شَرِيكٌ فِى ٱلْمُلْكِ وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ وَلِىٌّ مِّنَ ٱلذُّلِّ وَكَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيرًۢا ١١١
17:111
Ahmed Ali
And say: "All praise be to God who has neither begotten a son nor has a partner in His kingdom; nor has He need of any one to protect Him from ignominy. So extol Him by extolling His majesty."
Shakir
And say: (All) praise is due to Allah, Who has not taken a son and Who has not a partner in the kingdom, and Who has not a helper to save Him from disgrace; and proclaim His greatness magnifying (Him).
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور یوں کہو سب خوبیاں اللہ کو جس نے اپنے لیے بچہ اختیار نہ فرمایا (ف۲۳۲) اور بادشاہی میں کوئی اس کا شریک نہیں (ف۲۳۳) اور کمزوری سے کوئی اس کا حمایتی نہیں (ف۲۳۴) اور اس کی بڑائی بولنے کو تکبیر کہو (ف۲۳۵)

ALL PRAISE BE to God who has revealed to His votary the Book which is free of all obliquity,
Shakir
(All) praise is due to Allah, Who revealed the Book to His servant and did not make in it any crookedness.
Ahmed Raza Khan
سب خوبیاں اللہ کو جس نے اپنے بندے (ف۲) پر کتاب اتاری (ف۳) اور اس میں اصلاً (بالکل، ذرا بھی) کجی نہ رکھی، (ف۴)
18:1 قَيِّمًا لِّيُنذِرَ بَأْسًا شَدِيدًا مِّن لَّدُنْهُ وَيُبَشِّرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ أَنَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرًا حَسَنًا ٢
18:2
Ahmed Ali
Immutable, so that it may warn of a severe punishment from Him; and give happy tidings to those who believe and do the right that there is a better reward (of Paradise) for them,
Shakir
Rightly directing, that he might give warning of severe punishment from Him and give good news to the believers who do good that they shall have a goodly reward,
Ahmed Raza Khan
عدل والی کتاب کہ (ف۵) اللہ کے سخت عذاب سے ڈرائے اور ایمان والوں کو جو نیک کام کریں بشارت دے کہ ان کے لیے اچھا ثواب ہے،
18:2 مَّٰكِثِينَ فِيهِ أَبَدًا ٣
18:3
Ahmed Ali
Where they will abide for ever;
Shakir
Staying in it for ever;
Ahmed Raza Khan
جس میں ہمیشہ رہیں گے،
18:3 وَيُنذِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَدًا ٤
18:4
Ahmed Ali
And that it may warn those who say: "God has begotten a son."
Shakir
And warn those who say: Allah has taken a son.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور ان (ف۶) کو ڈرائے جو کہتے ہیں کہ اللہ نے اپنا کوئی بچہ بنایا،

They have no knowledge of this, as their fathers did not have. How terrible are the words they utter! They speak nothing but lies.
Shakir
They have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers; a grievous word it is that comes out of their mouths; they speak nothing but a lie.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اس بارے میں نہ وہ کچھ علم رکھتے ہیں نہ ان کے باپ دادا (ف۷) کتنا بڑا بول ہے کہ ان کے منہ سے نکلتا ہے، نِرا جھوٹ کہہ رہے ہیں،
18:5 فَلَعَلَّكَ بَٰخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِمْ إِن لَّمْ يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِهَٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ أَسَفًا ٦
18:6
Ahmed Ali
Will you kill yourself for grief of them if they do not believe in this presentation?
Shakir
Then maybe you will kill yourself with grief, sorrowing after them, if they do not believe in this announcement.
Ahmed Raza Khan
تو کہیں تم اپنی جان پر کھیل جاؤ گے ان کے پیچھے اگر وہ اس بات پر (ف۸) ایمان نہ لائیں غم سے (ف۹)
18:6 إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا مَا عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ زِينَةً لَّهَا لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا ٧
18:7
Ahmed Ali
We have made whatever exists on the earth its adornment to test and try them (and) know who acts better;
Shakir
Surely We have made whatever is on the earth an embellishment for it, so that We may try them (as to) which of them is best in works.
Ahmed Raza Khan
بیشک ہم نے زمین کا سنگھار کیا جو کچھ اس پر ہے (ف۱۰) کہ انہیں آزمائیں ان میں کس کے کام بہتر ہیں (ف۱۱)
18:7 وَإِنَّا لَجَٰعِلُونَ مَا عَلَيْهَا صَعِيدًا جُرُزًا ٨
18:8
Ahmed Ali
For We shall certainly turn it to barren dust.
Shakir
And most surely We will make what is on it bare ground without herbage.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور بیشک جو کچھ اس پر ہے ایک دن ہم اسے پٹ پر میدان (سفید زمین) کو چھوڑیں گے (ف۱۲)
18:8 أَمْ حَسِبْتَ أَنَّ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلْكَهْفِ وَٱلرَّقِيمِ كَانُوا۟ مِنْ ءَايَٰتِنَا عَجَبًا ٩
18:9
Ahmed Ali
Do you think the men of the cave and Ar-Raqim were so strange among Our signs?
Shakir
Or, do you think that the Fellows of the Cave and the Inscription were of Our wonderful signs?
Ahmed Raza Khan
کیا تمہیں معلوم ہوا کہ پہاڑ کی کھوہ اور جنگل کے کنارے والے (ف۱۳) ہماری ایک عجیب نشانی تھے،
18:9 إِذْ أَوَى ٱلْفِتْيَةُ إِلَى ٱلْكَهْفِ فَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا ٠١
18:10
Ahmed Ali
When those young men took shelter in the cave, and prayed: "O Lord, grant us Your favour and dispose our affair aright,"
Shakir
When the youths sought refuge in the cave, they said: Our Lord! grant us mercy from Thee, and provide for us a right course in our affair.
Ahmed Raza Khan
جب ان نوجوانوں نے (ف۱۴) غار میں پناہ لی پھر بولے اے ہمارے رب ہمیں اپنے پاس سے رحمت دے (ف۱۵) اور ہمارے کام میں ہمارے لیے راہ یابی کے سامان کر،
18:10 فَضَرَبْنَا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ فِى ٱلْكَهْفِ سِنِينَ عَدَدًا ١١
18:11
Ahmed Ali
We sealed off their ears in the cave for a number of years,
Shakir
So We prevented them from hearing in the cave for a number of years.
Ahmed Raza Khan
تو ہم نے اس غار میں ان کے کے کانوں پر گنتی کے کئی برس تھپکا (ف۱۶)
18:11 ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَٰهُمْ لِنَعْلَمَ أَىُّ ٱلْحِزْبَيْنِ أَحْصَىٰ لِمَا لَبِثُوٓا۟ أَمَدًا ٢١
18:12
Ahmed Ali
Then roused them to ascertain which of the two groups could account for the period they had stayed.
Shakir
Then We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best able to compute the time for which they remained.
Ahmed Raza Khan
پھر ہم نے انھیں جگایا کہ دیکھیں (ف۱۷) دو گروہوں میں کون ان کے ٹھہرنے کی مدت زیادہ ٹھیک بتاتا ہے،
18:12 نَّحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ نَبَأَهُم بِٱلْحَقِّ إِنَّهُمْ فِتْيَةٌ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِرَبِّهِمْ وَزِدْنَٰهُمْ هُدًى ٣١
18:13
Ahmed Ali
We narrate their story to you in all truth. They were a few young men who believed in their Lord; so We gave them greater guidance.
Shakir
We relate to you their story with the truth; surely they were youths who believed in their Lord and We increased them in guidance.
Ahmed Raza Khan
ہم ان کا ٹھیک ٹھیک حال تمہیں سنائیں، وہ کچھ جوان تھے کہ اپنے رب پر ایمان لائے اور ہم نے ان کو ہدایت بڑھائی،
18:13 وَرَبَطْنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ إِذْ قَامُوا۟ فَقَالُوا۟ رَبُّنَا رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ لَن نَّدْعُوَا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِلَٰهًا لَّقَدْ قُلْنَآ إِذًا شَطَطًا ٤١
18:14
Ahmed Ali
And strengthened their hearts when they stood up and said: "Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. We shall invoke no god beside Him, for we shall have uttered a blasphemy then.
Shakir
And We strengthened their hearts with patience, when they stood up and said: Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth; we will by no means call upon any god besides Him, for then indeed we should have said an extravagant thing.

اور ہم نے ان کی ڈھارس بندھائی جب (ف۱۸) کھڑے ہوکر بولے کہ ہمارا رب وہ ہے جو آسمان اور زمین کا رب ہے ہم اس کے سوا کسی معبود کو نہ پوجیں گے ایسا ہو تو ہم نے ضرور حد سے گزری ہوئی بات کہی،
18:14 هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوْمُنَا ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةً لَّوْلَا يَأْتُونَ عَلَيْهِم بِسُلْطَٰنٍۭ بَيِّنٍ فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا ٥١
18:15
Ahmed Ali
As for these our people here, they have taken to other gods apart from Him. Then why do they not bring a clear authority for them? Who is more wicked than he who fabricates a lie against God?"
Shakir
These our people have taken gods besides Him; why do they not produce any clear authority in their support? Who is then more unjust than he who forges a lie against Allah?
Ahmed Raza Khan
یہ جو ہماری قوم ہے اس نے اللہ کے سوا خدا بنا رکھے ہیں، کیوں نہیں لاتے ان پر کوئی روشن سند، تو اس سے بڑھ کر ظالم کون جو اللہ پر جھوٹ باندھے (ف۱۹)
