Ahmed Ali
But if your Lord had pleased He could have made all human beings into one community of belief. But they would still have differed from one another,
Shakir
And if your Lord had pleased He would certainly have made people a single nation, and they shall continue to differ.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور اگرتمہارا رب چاہتا تو سب آدمیوں کو ایک ہی امت کردیتا (ف۲۳۹) اور وہ ہمیشہ اختلاف میں رہیں گے (ف۲۴۰)
11:118 إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ رَبُّكَ وَلِذَٰلِكَ خَلَقَهُمْ وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَةُ رَبِّكَ لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ ٩١١
11:119
Ahmed Ali
Except those on whom your Lord had mercy for which He has created them. But fulfilled shall be the word of your Lord. "I will fill up Hell with jinns and men."
Shakir
Except those on whom your Lord has mercy; and for this did He create them; and the word of your Lord is fulfilled: Certainly I will fill hell with the jinn and the men, all together.
Ahmed Raza Khan
مگر جن پر تمہارے رب نے رحم کیا (ف۲۴۱) اور لوگ اسی لیے بنائے ہیں (ف۲۴۲) اور تمہارے رب کی بات پوری ہوچکی کہ بیشک ضرور جہنم بھر دوں گا جنوں اور آدمیوں کو ملا کر (ف۲۴۳)
11:119 وَكُلًّا نَّقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنۢبَآءِ ٱلرُّسُلِ مَا نُثَبِّتُ بِهِۦ فُؤَادَكَ وَجَآءَكَ فِى هَٰذِهِ ٱلْحَقُّ وَمَوْعِظَةٌ وَذِكْرَىٰ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٠٢١
11:120
Ahmed Ali
The histories of apostles that We relate to you are (meant) to strengthen your heart. Through them has the truth come to you, and guidance, and reminder to those who believe.
Shakir
And all we relate to you of the accounts of the messengers is to strengthen your heart therewith; and in this has come to you the truth and an admonition, and a reminder to the believers.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور سب کچھ ہم تمہیں رسولوں کی خبریں سناتے ہیں جس سے تمہا را دل ٹھیرائیں (ف۲۴۴) اور اس سورت میں تمہارے پاس حق آیا (ف۲۴۵) اور مسلمانوں کو پند و نصیحت (ف۲۴۶)
11:120 وَقُل لِّلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ٱعْمَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنَّا عَٰمِلُونَ ١٢١

Ahmed Ali
Say to the infidels. "Act as best you can, we are acting too;
Shakir
And say to those who do not believe: Act according to your state; surely we too are acting.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور کافروں سے فرماؤ تم اپنی جگہ کام کیے جاؤ (ف۲۴۷) ہم اپنا کام کرتے ہیں (ف۲۴۸)
11:121 وَٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟ إِنَّا مُنتَظِرُونَ ٢٢١

Ahmed Ali
And wait (for what is to come), we are also waiting (to see)."
Shakir
And wait; surely we are waiting also.

اور راہ دیکھو ہم بھی راہ دیکھتے ہیں (ف۲۴۹)
11:122 وَلِلَّهِ غَيْبُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ يُرْجَعُ ٱلْأَمْرُ كُلُّهُۥ فَٱعْبُدْهُ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَيْهِ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ ٣٢١
11:123
Ahmed Ali
To God belong the secrets of the heavens and the earth, and all things will go back to Him. So worship Him and put your trust in Him; your Lord is not heedless of what you do.
Shakir
And Allah´s is the unseen in the heavens and the earth, and to Him is returned the whole of the affair; therefore serve Him and rely on Him, and your Lord is not heedless of what you do.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور اللہ ہی کے لیے ہیں آسمانوں اور زمین کے غیب (ف۲۵۰) اور اسی کی طرف سب کاموں کی رجوع ہے تو اس کی بندگی کرو اور اس پر بھروسہ رکھو، اور تمہارا رب تمہارے کا موں سے غافل نہیں،

ALIF LAM RA. These are the verses of the immaculate Book.
Shakir
Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of the Book that makes (things) manifest.
Ahmed Raza Khan
یہ روشن کتاب کی آیتیں ہیں (ف۲)
12:1 إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ قُرْءَٰنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ ٢
12:2
Ahmed Ali
We have sent it down as a clear discourse that you may understand.
Shakir
Surely We have revealed it-- an Arabic Quran-- that you may understand.
Ahmed Raza Khan
بیشک ہم نے اسے عربی قرآن اتارا کہ تم سمجھو،
12:2 نَحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْقَصَصِ بِمَآ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ هَٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ وَإِن كُنتَ مِن قَبْلِهِۦ لَمِنَ ٱلْغَٰفِلِينَ ٣
12:3
Ahmed Ali
Through the revelation of this Qur´an We narrate the best of histories of which you were unaware before.
Shakir
We narrate to you the best of narratives, by Our revealing to you this Quran, though before this you were certainly one of those who did not know.
Ahmed Raza Khan
ہم تمہیں سب اچھا بیان سناتے ہیں (ف۳) اس لیے کہ ہم نے تمہاری طرف اس قرآن کی وحی بھیجی اگرچہ بیشک اس سے پہلے تمہیں خبر نہ تھی،
12:3 إِذْ قَالَ يُوسُفُ لِأَبِيهِ يَٰٓأَبَتِ إِنِّى رَأَيْتُ أَحَدَ عَشَرَ كَوْكَبًا وَٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ رَأَيْتُهُمْ لِى سَٰجِدِينَ ٤
12:4
Ahmed Ali
When Joseph told his father: "O my father, I saw eleven stars and the sun and the moon bowing before me in homage,"
Shakir
When Yusuf said to his father: O my father! surely I saw eleven stars and the sun and the moon-- I saw them making obeisance to me.

یاد کرو جب یوسف نے اپنے با پ (ف۴) سے کہا اے میرے باپ میں نے گیارہ تارے اور سورج اور چاند دیکھے انہیں اپنے لیے سجدہ کرتے دیکھا (ف۵)

Ahmed Ali
He said: "O son, do not narrate your dream to your brothers, or they will plot against you. Surely Satan is man´s acknowledged foe.
Shakir
He said: O my son! do not relate your vision to your brothers, lest they devise a plan against you; surely the Shaitan is an open enemy to man.
Ahmed Raza Khan
کہا اے میرے بچے اپنا خواب اپنے بھائیوں سے نہ کہنا (ف۶) وہ تیرے ساتھ کوئی چا ل چلیں گے (ف۷) بیشک شیطان آدمی کا کھلا دشمن ہے (ف۸)
12:5 وَكَذَٰلِكَ يَجْتَبِيكَ رَبُّكَ وَيُعَلِّمُكَ مِن تَأْوِيلِ ٱلْأَحَادِيثِ وَيُتِمُّ نِعْمَتَهُۥ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَىٰٓ ءَالِ يَعْقُوبَ كَمَآ أَتَمَّهَا عَلَىٰٓ أَبَوَيْكَ مِن قَبْلُ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْحَٰقَ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ ٦
12:6
Ahmed Ali
Your Lord will choose you and teach you to interpret events, and confer His favours on you and the house of Jacob, as He had done in the case of two ancestors of yours, Abraham and Isaac, before you. Indeed your Lord is all-knowing and all-wise."
Shakir
And thus will your Lord choose you and teach you the interpretation of sayings and make His favor complete to you and to the children of Yaqoub, as He made it complete before to your fathers, Ibrahim and Ishaq; surely your Lord is Knowing, Wise.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور اسی طرح تجھے تیرا رب چن لے گا (ف۹) اور تجھے باتوں کا انجام نکا لنا سکھائے گا (ف۱۰) اور تجھ پر اپنی نعمت پوری کرے گا اور یعقوب کے گھر والوں پر (ف۱۱) جس طرح تیرے پہلے دنوں باپ دادا ابراہیم ؑ اور اسحق ؑ پر پوری کی (ف۱۲) بیشک تیرا رب علم و حکمت والا ہے،
12:6 ۞ لَّقَدْ كَانَ فِى يُوسُفَ وَإِخْوَتِهِۦٓ ءَايَٰتٌ لِّلسَّآئِلِينَ ٧

In the story of Joseph and his brothers are lessons for those who inquire.
Shakir
Certainly in Yusuf and his brothers there are signs for the inquirers.
Ahmed Raza Khan
بیشک یوسف اور اس کے بھائیوں میں (ف۱۳) پوچھنے والوں کے لیے نشانیاں ہیں (ف۱۴)
12:7 إِذْ قَالُوا۟ لَيُوسُفُ وَأَخُوهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَىٰٓ أَبِينَا مِنَّا وَنَحْنُ عُصْبَةٌ إِنَّ أَبَانَا لَفِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ ٨
12:8
Ahmed Ali
"Surely Joseph and his brother are dearer to our father than we," (said his half brothers) "even though we are a well-knit band. Our father is surely in the wrong.
Shakir
When they said: Certainly Yusuf and his brother are dearer to our father than we, though we are a (stronger) company; most surely our father is in manifest error:
Ahmed Raza Khan
جب بولے (ف۱۵) کہ ضرور یوسف اور اس کا بھائی (ف۱۶) ہمارے باپ کو ہم سے زیادہ پیارے ہیں اور ہم ایک جماعت ہیں (ف۱۷) بیشک ہمارے باپ صراحةً ان کی محبت میں ڈوبے ہوئے ہیں (ف۱۸)
12:8 ٱقْتُلُوا۟ يُوسُفَ أَوِ ٱطْرَحُوهُ أَرْضًا يَخْلُ لَكُمْ وَجْهُ أَبِيكُمْ وَتَكُونُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ قَوْمًا صَٰلِحِينَ ٩
12:9
Ahmed Ali
Let us kill Joseph or cast him in some distant land so that we may get our father´s exclusive affection; then play innocent."
Shakir
Slay Yusuf or cast him (forth) into some land, so that your father´s regard may be exclusively for you, and after that you may be a righteous people.
Ahmed Raza Khan
یوسف کو مار ڈالو یا کہیں زمین میں پھینک آؤ (ف۱۹) کہ تمہارے باپ کا منہ صرف تمہاری ہی طرف رہے (ف۲۰) اور اس کے بعد پھر نیک ہوجانا (ف۲۱)
12:9 قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ لَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ يُوسُفَ وَأَلْقُوهُ فِى غَيَٰبَتِ ٱلْجُبِّ يَلْتَقِطْهُ بَعْضُ ٱلسَّيَّارَةِ إِن كُنتُمْ فَٰعِلِينَ ٠١
12:10
Ahmed Ali
One of them said: "If you must do so, then do not kill Joseph, but throw him into an unused well. Some passing caravan may rescue him."
Shakir
A speaker from among them said: Do not slay Yusuf, and cast him down into the bottom of the pit if you must do (it), (so that) some of the travellers may pick him up.
Ahmed Raza Khan
ان میں ایک کہنے والا (ف۲۲) بولا یوسف کو مارو نہیں (ف۲۳) اور اسے اندھے کنویں میں ڈال دو کہ کوئی چلتا اسے آکر لے جائے (ف۲۴) اگر تمہیں کرنا ہے (ف۲۵)
12:10 قَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَبَانَا مَا لَكَ لَا تَأْمَ۫نَّا عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَنَٰصِحُونَ ١١
12:11
Ahmed Ali
(Then going to their father) they said: "O father, why don´t you trust us with Joseph? We are in fact his well-wishers.
Shakir
They said: O our father! what reason have you that you do not trust in us with respect to Yusuf? And most surely we are his sincere well-wishers:
Ahmed Raza Khan
بولے اے ہمارے باپ ! آپ کو کیا ہوا کہ یوسف کے معامل ہ میں ہمارا اعتبار نہیں کرتے اور ہم تو اس کے خیر خواہ ہیں،
12:11 أَرْسِلْهُ مَعَنَا غَدًا يَرْتَعْ وَيَلْعَبْ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَٰفِظُونَ ٢١
12:12
Ahmed Ali
Let him go out with us tomorrow that he may enjoy and play. We shall take care of him."
Shakir
Send him with us tomorrow that he may enjoy himself and sport, and surely we will guard him well.
Ahmed Raza Khan
کل اسے ہمارے ساتھ بھیج دیجئے کہ میوے کھائے اور کھیلے (ف۲۶) اور بیشک ہم اس کے نگہبان ہیں (ف۲۷)
12:12 قَالَ إِنِّى لَيَحْزُنُنِىٓ أَن تَذْهَبُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَأَخَافُ أَن يَأْكُلَهُ ٱلذِّئْبُ وَأَنتُمْ عَنْهُ غَٰفِلُونَ ٣١
12:13
Ahmed Ali
He said: "I am afraid of sending him with you lest a wolf should devour him when you are unmindful."
Shakir
He said: Surely it grieves me that you should take him off, and I fear lest the wolf devour him while you are heedless of him.
Ahmed Raza Khan
بولا بیشک مجھے رنج دے گا کہ اسے لے جاؤ (ف۲۸) اور ڈرتا ہوں کہ اسے بھیڑیا کھالے (ف۲۹) اور تم اس سے بے خبر رہو (ف۳۰)
12:13 قَالُوا۟ لَئِنْ أَكَلَهُ ٱلذِّئْبُ وَنَحْنُ عُصْبَةٌ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّخَٰسِرُونَ ٤١
12:14
Ahmed Ali
They replied: "If a wolf should devour him when we are there, a well-knit band, we shall certainly be treacherous."
Shakir
They said: Surely if the wolf should devour him notwithstanding that we are a (strong) company, we should then certainly be losers.
Ahmed Raza Khan
بولے اگر اسے بھیڑیا کھا جائے اور ہم ایک جماعت ہیں جب تو ہم کسی مصرف کے نہیں (ف۳۱)
