And what is in the breasts is made apparent?

اور کھول دی جائے گی (ف۹) جو سینوں میں ہے،
100:10 إِنَّ رَبَّهُم بِهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّخَبِيرٌۢ ١١

Surely their Lord will be aware of their (deeds).

Most surely their Lord that day shall be fully aware of them.

What is the terrible calamity!

کیا وہ دہلانے والی،
101:2 وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ ٣

Ahmed Ali
How will you comprehend what the startling calamity is? --

And what will make you comprehend what the terrible calamity is?

اور تو نے کیا جانا کیا ہے دہلانے والی (ف۲)
101:3 يَوْمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلْفَرَاشِ ٱلْمَبْثُوثِ ٤

A Day on which human beings would be like so many scattered moths,

The day on which men shall be as scattered moths,

جس دن آدمی ہوں گے جیسے پھیلے پتنگے (ف۳)
101:4 وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ٱلْمَنفُوشِ ٥

The mountains like the tufts of carded wool.
Shakir
And the mountains shall be as loosened wool.

اور پہاڑ ہوں گے جیسے دھنکی اون (ف۴)
101:5 فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ ٦

Ahmed Ali
Then he whose deeds shall weigh heavier in the scale

Then as for him whose measure of good deeds is heavy,

تو جس کی تولیں بھاری ہوئیں (ف۵)
101:6 فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ ٧
101:7
Ahmed Ali
Will have a tranquil life;
Shakir
He shall live a pleasant life.

وہ تو من مانتے عیش میں ہیں (ف۶)
101:7 وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ ٨
101:8
Ahmed Ali
But he whose deeds are lighter in the balance
Shakir
And as for him whose measure of good deeds is light,
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور جس کی تولیں ہلکی پڑیں (ف۷)
101:8 فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٌ ٩
101:9
Ahmed Ali
Will have the Abyss for abode.
Shakir
His abode shall be the abyss.

وہ نیچا دکھانے والی گود میں ہے (ف۸)
101:9 وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهْ ٠١

Ahmed Ali
How will you comprehend what that is?

And what will make you know what it is?

اور تو نے کیا جانا، کیا نیچا دکھانے والی،
101:10 نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌۢ ١١

It is the scorching fire.

A burning fire.

ایک آگ شعلے مارتی (ف۹)
101:11 سورة التكاثر
102:1

THE AVARICE OF plenitude keeps you occupied
Shakir
Abundance diverts you,

تمہیں غافل رکھا (ف۳) مال کی زیادہ طلبی نے (ف۳)
102:1 حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ ٱلْمَقَابِرَ ٢
102:2
Ahmed Ali
Till you reach the grave.
Shakir
Until you come to the graves.
Ahmed Raza Khan
یہاں تک کہ تم نے قبروں کا منہ دیکھا (ف۴)
102:2 كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ٣
102:3
Ahmed Ali
But you will come to know soon; --
Shakir
Nay! you shall soon know,
Ahmed Raza Khan
ہاں ہاں جلد جان جاؤ گے (ف۵)
102:3 ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ٤
102:4
Ahmed Ali
Indeed you will come to know soon.
Shakir
Nay! Nay! you shall soon know.
Ahmed Raza Khan
پھر ہاں ہاں جلد جان جاؤ گے (ف۶)
102:4 كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ ٱلْيَقِينِ ٥
102:5
Ahmed Ali
And yet if you knew with positive knowledge
Shakir
Nay! if you had known with a certain knowledge,

ہاں ہاں اگر یقین کا جاننا جانتے تو مال کی محبت نہ رکھتے (ف۷)
102:5 لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ ٦
102:6
Ahmed Ali
You have indeed to behold Hell;

You should most certainly have seen the hell;

بیشک ضرور جنہم کو دیکھو گے (ف۸)
102:6 ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ ٱلْيَقِينِ ٧
102:7
Ahmed Ali
Then you will see it with the eye of certainty.
Shakir
Then you shall most certainly see it with the eye of certainty;

پھر بیشک ضرور اسے یقینی دیکھنا دیکھو گے،
102:7 ثُمَّ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ٨
102:8
Ahmed Ali
Then on that day you will surely be asked about the verity of pleasures.

Then on that day you shall most certainly be questioned about the boons.

103:1 إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لَفِى خُسْرٍ ٢

Ahmed Ali
Man is certainly loss,
Shakir
Most surely man is in loss,

بیشک آدمی ضرور نقصان میں ہے (ف۳)
103:2 إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ ٣
103:3
Ahmed Ali
Except those who believe, and do good and enjoin truth on one another, and enjoin one another to bear with fortitude (the trials that befall).
Shakir
Except those who believe and do good, and enjoin on each other truth, and enjoin on each other patience.

مگر جو ایمان لائے اور اچھے کام کیے اور ایک دورے کو حق کی تاکید کی (ف۴) اور ایک دوسرے کو صبر کی وصیت کی (ف۵)

WOE TO EVERY slanderer, back-biter,

Woe to every slanderer, defamer,

خرابی ہے اس کے لیے جو لوگوں کے منہ پر عیب کرے پیٹھ پیچھے بدی کرے (ف۲)
104:1 ٱلَّذِى جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُۥ ٢
104:2
Ahmed Ali
Who amasses wealth and hordes it.
Shakir
Who amasses wealth and considers it a provision (against mishap);
Ahmed Raza Khan
جس نے مال جوڑا اور گن گن کر رکھا،
104:2 يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُۥٓ أَخْلَدَهُۥ ٣
104:3
Ahmed Ali
Does he think his wealth will abide for ever with him?
Shakir
He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal.

کیا یہ سمجھتا ہے کہ اس کا مال اسے دنیا میں ہمیشہ رکھے گا (ف۳)
104:3 كَلَّا لَيُنۢبَذَنَّ فِى ٱلْحُطَمَةِ ٤
104:4
Ahmed Ali
By no means. He will be thrown into Hutama.

Nay! he shall most certainly be hurled into the crushing disaster,

ہر گز نہیں ضرور وہ روندنے والی میں پھینکا جائے گا (ف۴)
104:4 وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحُطَمَةُ ٥
104:5

How will you comprehend what Hutama is?

And what will make you realize what the crushing disaster is?

اور تو نے کیا جانا کیا روندنے والی،
104:5 نَارُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُوقَدَةُ ٦

Ahmed Ali
It is the fire kindled by God
Shakir
It is the fire kindled by Allah,

اللہ کی آگ کہ بھڑک رہی ہے (ف۵)
104:6 ٱلَّتِى تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى ٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةِ ٧
104:7

Which penetrates the hearts
Shakir
Which rises above the hearts.

وہ جو دلوں پر چڑھ جائے گی (ف۶)
104:7 إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌ ٨
104:8
Ahmed Ali
(And) vaults them over
Shakir
Surely it shall be closed over upon them,

بیشک وہ ان پر بند کردی جائے گی (ف۷)
104:8 فِى عَمَدٍ مُّمَدَّدَةٍۭ ٩

In extending columns.
Shakir
In extended columns.

لمبے لمبے ستونوں میں (ف۸)
104:9 سورة الفيل
105:1
Ahmed Ali
HAVE YOU NOT seen how your Lord dealt with the people of the elephants?
Shakir
Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with the possessors of the elephant?

اے محبوب! کیا تم نے نہ دیکھا تمہارے رب نے ان ہاتھی والوں کیا حال کیا (ف۲)
105:1 أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِى تَضْلِيلٍ ٢
105:2
Ahmed Ali
Did He not make their plan go wrong,
Shakir
Did He not cause their war to end in confusion,
Ahmed Raza Khan
کیا ان کا داؤ تباہی میں نہ ڈالا،
105:2 وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ ٣
105:3
Ahmed Ali
And sent hordes of chargers flying against them,
Shakir
And send down (to prey) upon them birds in flocks,

اور ان پر پرندوں کی ٹکڑیاں (فوجیں) بھیجیں (ف۳)
105:3 تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ ٤
105:4
Ahmed Ali
(While) you were pelting them with stones of porphyritic lava,
Shakir
Casting against them stones of baked clay,
Ahmed Raza Khan
کہ انہیں کنکر کے پتھروں سے مارتے (ف۴)
105:4 فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولٍۭ ٥
105:5
Ahmed Ali
And turned them into pastured fields of corn?
Shakir
So He rendered them like straw eaten up?
Ahmed Raza Khan
تو انہیں کر ڈالا جیسے کھائی کھیتی کی پتی (بھوسہ) (ف۵)
