سورة الجن
72:1
Ahmed Ali
SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: ´We have heard the wondrous Qur´an,
Shakir
Say: It has been revealed to me that a party of the jinn listened, and they said: Surely we have heard a wonderful Quran,
Ahmed Raza Khan
تم فرماؤ (ف۲) مجھے وحی ہوئی کہ کچھ جنوں نے (ف۳) میرا پڑھنا کان لگا کر سنا (ف۴) تو بولے (ف۵) ہم نے ایک عجیب قرآن سنا (ف۶)
72:1 يَهْدِىٓ إِلَى ٱلرُّشْدِ فَـَٔامَنَّا بِهِۦ وَلَن نُّشْرِكَ بِرَبِّنَآ أَحَدًا ٢
72:2
Ahmed Ali
Which guides to the right path; and we have come to believe in it, and will not associate any one with our Lord.
Shakir
Guiding to the right way, so we believe in it, and we will not set up any one with our Lord:
Ahmed Raza Khan
کہ بھلائی کی راہ بتا تا ہے (ف۷) تو ہم اس پر ایمان لائے، اور ہم ہرگز کسی کو اپنے رب کا شریک نہ کریں گے،
72:2 وَأَنَّهُۥ تَعَٰلَىٰ جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا ٱتَّخَذَ صَٰحِبَةً وَلَا وَلَدًا ٣
72:3
Ahmed Ali
Exalted is the glory of our Lord; He has neither wife nor son.
Shakir
And that He-- exalted be the majesty of our Lord-- has not taken a consort, nor a son:
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور یہ کہ ہمارے رب کی شان بہت بلند ہے نہ اس نے عورت اختیار کی اور نہ بچہ (ف۸)
72:3 وَأَنَّهُۥ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَفِيهُنَا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ شَطَطًا ٤
72:4
Ahmed Ali
Certainly the foolish among us say preposterous things of God.
Shakir
And that the foolish amongst us used to forge extravagant things against Allah:

اور یہ کہ ہم میں کا بے وقوف اللہ پر بڑھ کر بات کہتا تھا (ف۹)
72:4 وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّآ أَن لَّن تَقُولَ ٱلْإِنسُ وَٱلْجِنُّ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا ٥
72:5
Ahmed Ali
We had in fact thought that men and jinns would never speak a lie about God,
Shakir
And that we thought that men and jinn did not utter a lie against Allah:
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور یہ کہ ہمیں خیال تھا کہ ہرگز آدمی اور جِن اللہ پر جھوٹ نہ باندھیں گے (ف۱۰)
72:5 وَأَنَّهُۥ كَانَ رِجَالٌ مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٍ مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ فَزَادُوهُمْ رَهَقًا ٦
72:6
Ahmed Ali
But some men used to seek refuge with some jinns, and this increased their waywardness;
Shakir
And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing:

اور یہ کہ آدمیوں میں کچھ مرد جنوں کے کچھ مردوں کے پناہ لیتے تھے (ف۱۱) تو اس سے اور بھی ان کا تکبر بڑھا،
72:6 وَأَنَّهُمْ ظَنُّوا۟ كَمَا ظَنَنتُمْ أَن لَّن يَبْعَثَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدًا ٧
72:7
Ahmed Ali
So they began to think, even as you do, that God would not resurrect any one.
Shakir
And that they thought as you think, that Allah would not raise anyone:
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور یہ کہ انہوں نے (ف۱۲) گمان کیا جیسا تمہیں گمان ہے (ف۱۳) کہ اللہ ہرگز کوئی رسول نہ بھیجے گا،
72:7 وَأَنَّا لَمَسْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ فَوَجَدْنَٰهَا مُلِئَتْ حَرَسًا شَدِيدًا وَشُهُبًا ٨
72:8
Ahmed Ali
We sought to pry into the secrets of the heavens, but found it full of fierce guards and shooting flames.
Shakir
And that we sought to reach heaven, but we found it filled with strong guards and flaming stars.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور یہ کہ ہم نے آسمان کو چھوا (ف۱۴) تو اسے پایا کہ (ف۱۵) سخت پہرے اور آگ کی چنگاریوں سے بھردیا گیا ہے (ف۱۶)
72:8 وَأَنَّا كُنَّا نَقْعُدُ مِنْهَا مَقَٰعِدَ لِلسَّمْعِ فَمَن يَسْتَمِعِ ٱلْءَانَ يَجِدْ لَهُۥ شِهَابًا رَّصَدًا ٩
72:9
Ahmed Ali
We sat in observatories to listen; but any one who listened found a shooting star in wait for him.
Shakir
And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him:

اور یہ کہ ہم (ف۱۷) پہلے آسمان میں سننے کے لیے کچھ موقعوں پر بیٹھا کرتے تھے، پھر اب (ف۱۸) جو کوئی سنے وہ اپنی تاک میں آگ کا لُوکا (لپٹ) پائے (ف۱۹)
72:9 وَأَنَّا لَا نَدْرِىٓ أَشَرٌّ أُرِيدَ بِمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَمْ أَرَادَ بِهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ رَشَدًا ٠١
72:10
Ahmed Ali
We do not know if this means ill for the dwellers of the earth, or their Lord wishes guidance for them.
Shakir
And that we know not whether evil is meant for those who are on earth or whether their Lord means to bring them good:
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور یہ کہ ہمیں نہیں معلوم کہ (ف۲۰) زمین والوں سے کوئی برائی کا ارادہ فرمایا گیا ہے یا ان کے نے کوئی بھلائی چاہی ہے،
72:10 وَأَنَّا مِنَّا ٱلصَّٰلِحُونَ وَمِنَّا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ كُنَّا طَرَآئِقَ قِدَدًا ١١
72:11
Ahmed Ali
For some of us are upright and some otherwise: Surely we follow different ways.
Shakir
And that some of us are good and others of us are below that: we are sects following different ways:

اور یہ کہ ہم میں (ف۲۱) کچھ نیک ہیں (ف۲۲) اور کچھ دوسری طرح کے ہیں، ہم کئی راہیں پھٹے ہوئے ہیں (ف۲۳)
72:11 وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّآ أَن لَّن نُّعْجِزَ ٱللَّهَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَن نُّعْجِزَهُۥ هَرَبًا ٢١
72:12
Ahmed Ali
We realised that we could not weaken the power of God on earth, nor outpace Him by running away.
Shakir
And that we know that we cannot escape Allah in the earth, nor can we escape Him by flight:
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور یہ کہ ہم کو یقین ہوا کہ ہر گز زمین اللہ کے قابو سے نہ نکل سکیں گے اور نہ بھاگ کر اس کے قبضہ سے باہر ہوں،
72:12 وَأَنَّا لَمَّا سَمِعْنَا ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ فَمَن يُؤْمِنۢ بِرَبِّهِۦ فَلَا يَخَافُ بَخْسًا وَلَا رَهَقًا ٣١
72:13
Ahmed Ali
So when we heard the guidance we believed in it; and he who believes in his Lord will neither fear loss nor force.
Shakir
And that when we heard the guidance, we believed in it; so whoever believes in his Lord, he should neither fear loss nor being overtaken (by disgrace):
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور یہ کہ ہم نے جب ہدایت سنی (ف۲۴) اس پر ایمان لائے، تو جو اپنے رب پر ایمان لائے اسے نہ کسی کمی کا خوف (ف۲۵) اور نہ زیادگی کا (ف۲۶)
72:13

فَمَنْ
أَسْلَمَ
فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
تَحَرَّوْا۟

Ahmed Ali
Some of us have come to submission, and some of us are iniquitous.´" Those who have submitted have taken the right course;
Shakir
And that some of us are those who submit, and some of us are the deviators; so whoever submits, these aim at the right way:

اور یہ کہ ہم میں کچھ مسلمان ہیں اور کچھ ظالم (ف۲۷) تو جو اسلام لائے انہوں نے بھلائی سوچی (ف۲۸)
72:14 وَأَمَّا ٱلْقَٰسِطُونَ فَكَانُوا۟ لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَبًا ٥١
72:15
Ahmed Ali
But those who are iniquitous will be fuel for Hell.
Shakir
And as to the deviators, they are fuel of hell:

اور رہے ظالم (ف۲۹) وہ جہنم کے ایندھن ہوئے (ف۳۰)
72:15 وَأَلَّوِ ٱسْتَقَٰمُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلطَّرِيقَةِ لَأَسْقَيْنَٰهُم مَّآءً غَدَقًا ٦١
72:16
Ahmed Ali
(Say): "If they keep to the right path We shall give them water in abundance to drink
Shakir
And that if they should keep to the (right) way, We would certainly give them to drink of abundant water,
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور فرماؤ کہ مجھے یہ وحی ہوئی ہے کہ اگر وہ (ف۳۱) راہ پر سیدھے رہتے (ف۳۲) تو ضرور ہم انہیں وافر پانی دیتے (ف۳۳)
72:16 لِّنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ وَمَن يُعْرِضْ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّهِۦ يَسْلُكْهُ عَذَابًا صَعَدًا ٧١
72:17
Ahmed Ali
In order to try them through it. But whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, will be given increasing torment by Him."
Shakir
So that We might try them with respect to it; and whoever turns aside from the reminder of his Lord, He will make him enter into an afflicting chastisement:
Ahmed Raza Khan
کہ اس پر انہیں جانچیں (ف۳۴) اور جو اپنے رب کی یاد سے منہ پھیرے (ف۳۵) وہ اسے چڑھتے عذاب میں ڈالے گا (ف۳۶)
72:17 وَأَنَّ ٱلْمَسَٰجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوا۟ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدًا ٨١
72:18
Ahmed Ali
All places of worship are for God; so do not invoke any one with God.
Shakir
And that the mosques are Allah´s, therefore call not upon any one with Allah:
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور یہ کہ مسجدیں (ف۳۷) اللہ ہی کی ہیں تو اللہ کے ساتھ کسی کی بندگی نہ کرو (ف۳۸)
72:18 وَأَنَّهُۥ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ ٱللَّهِ يَدْعُوهُ كَادُوا۟ يَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَدًا ٩١
72:19
Ahmed Ali
When the devotee of God stood up to invoke Him (the jinns) crowded upon him (to listen).
Shakir
And that when the servant of Allah stood up calling upon Him, they wellnigh crowded him (to death).
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور یہ کہ جب اللہ کا بندہ (ف۳۹) اس کی بندگی کرنے کھڑا ہوا (ف۴۰) تو قریب تھا کہ وہ جن اس پر ٹھٹھ کے ٹھٹھ ہوجائیں (ف۴۱)
72:19 قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَدْعُوا۟ رَبِّى وَلَآ أُشْرِكُ بِهِۦٓ أَحَدًا ٠٢
72:20
Ahmed Ali
Say: "I call on my Lord alone and I do not associate any one with Him."
Shakir
Say: I only call upon my Lord, and I do not associate any one with Him.
Ahmed Raza Khan
تم فرماؤ میں تو اپنے رب ہی کی بندگی کرتا ہوں اور کسی کو اس کا شریک نہیں ٹھہراتا،
72:20 قُلْ إِنِّى لَآ أَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا رَشَدًا ١٢
72:21
Ahmed Ali
Say: "Neither is your loss within my power nor bringing you to guidance."
Shakir
Say: I do not control for you evil or good.
Ahmed Raza Khan
تم فرماؤ میں تمہارے کسی برے بھلے کا مالک نہیں،
72:21 قُلْ إِنِّى لَن يُجِيرَنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدٌ وَلَنْ أَجِدَ مِن دُونِهِۦ مُلْتَحَدًا ٢٢
72:22
Ahmed Ali
Say: "No one can save me from God, nor can I find a place of refuge apart from Him,
Shakir
Say: Surely no one can protect me against Allah, nor can I find besides Him any place of refuge:
Ahmed Raza Khan
تم فرماؤ ہرگز مجھے اللہ سے کوئی نہ بچائے گا (ف۴۲) اور ہرگز اس کے سوا کوئی پناہ نہ پاؤں گا،
72:22 إِلَّا بَلَٰغًا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِسَٰلَٰتِهِۦ وَمَن يَعْصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا ٣٢
72:23
Ahmed Ali
Unless I convey from God and deliver His message." For those who disobey God and His Apostle is the fire of Hell, where they will abide for ever;
Shakir
(It is) only a delivering (of communications) from Allah and His messages; and whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger surely he shall have the fire of hell to abide therein for a long time.
Ahmed Raza Khan
مگر اللہ کے پیام پہنچاتا اور اس کی رسالتیں (ف۴۳) اور جو اللہ اور اس کے رسول کا حکم نہ مانے (ف۴۴) تو بیشک ان کے لیے جہنم کی آگ ہے جس میں ہمیشہ ہمیشہ رہیں،
72:23 حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا رَأَوْا۟ مَا يُوعَدُونَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ أَضْعَفُ نَاصِرًا وَأَقَلُّ عَدَدًا ٤٢
72:24
Ahmed Ali
Until they see what they are promised, when they will understand who is weaker in aid and poorer in numbers.
Shakir
Until when they see what they are threatened with, then shall they know who is weaker in helpers and fewer in number.
Ahmed Raza Khan
یہاں تک کہ جب دیکھیں گے (ف۴۵) جو وعدہ دیا جاتا ہے تو اب جان جائیں گے کہ کس ک مددگار کمزور اور کس کی گنتی کم (ف۴۶)
72:24 قُلْ إِنْ أَدْرِىٓ أَقَرِيبٌ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ أَمْ يَجْعَلُ لَهُۥ رَبِّىٓ أَمَدًا ٥٢
72:25
Ahmed Ali
Say: "I do not know if what is promised you is near, or if my Lord prolongs its term.
Shakir
Say: I do not know whether that with which you are threatened be nigh or whether my Lord will appoint for it a term:
Ahmed Raza Khan
تم فرماؤ میں نہیں جانتا آیا نزدیک ہے وہ جس کا تمہیں وعدہ دیا جاتا ہے یا میرا رب اسے کچھ وقفہ دے گا (ف۴۷)
72:25 عَٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ فَلَا يُظْهِرُ عَلَىٰ غَيْبِهِۦٓ أَحَدًا ٦٢
72:26
Ahmed Ali
He is the knower of the Unknown, and He does not divulge His secret to any one
Shakir
The Knower of the unseen! so He does not reveal His secrets to any,
Ahmed Raza Khan
غیب کا جاننے والا تو اپنے غیب پر (ف۴۸) کسی کو مسلط نہیں کرتا (ف۴۹)
72:26 إِلَّا مَنِ ٱرْتَضَىٰ مِن رَّسُولٍ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَسْلُكُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِۦ رَصَدًا ٧٢
72:27
Ahmed Ali
Other than an apostle He has chosen, when He makes a sentinel walk in front of him and a sentinel behind,
Shakir
Except to him whom He chooses as a messenger; for surely He makes a guard to march before him and after him,
Ahmed Raza Khan
سوائے اپنے پسندیدہ رسولوں کے (ف۵۰) کہ ان کے آگے پیچھے پہرا مقرر کر دیتا ہے (ف۵۱)
72:27 لِّيَعْلَمَ أَن قَدْ أَبْلَغُوا۟ رِسَٰلَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَأَحَاطَ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ وَأَحْصَىٰ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عَدَدًۢا ٨٢
72:28
Ahmed Ali
So that He may know if they have delivered their Lord´s messages. He comprehends all that has been given them, and keeps count of everything.
Shakir
So that He may know that they have truly delivered the messages of their Lord, and He encompasses what is with them and He records the number of all things.
Ahmed Raza Khan
تا کہ دیکھ لے کہ انہوں نے اپنے رب کے پیام پہنچا دیے اور جو کچھ ان کے پاس سب اس کے علم میں ہے اور اس نے ہر چیز کی گنتی شمار کر رکھی ہے (ف۵۲)
72:28
