In them good and comely maidens --

Houris cloistered in pavilions --

Pure ones confined to the pavilions.

حوریں ہیں خیموں میں پردہ نشین (ف۴۷)
55:72 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٣٧

Undeflowered by man or by jinn before them, --

Man has not touched them before them nor jinni.

ان سے پہلے انہیں ہاتھ نہ لگایا کسی آدمی اور نہ کسی جِن نے،
55:74 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٥٧

Reclining on green cushions and rich carpets excellent.

Reclining on green cushions and beautiful carpets.

تکیہ لگائے ہوئے سبز بچھونوں اور منقش خوبصورت چاندنیوں پر،
55:76 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧٧

How many favours of your Lord will you then deny?

Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

55:77 تَبَٰرَكَ ٱسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِى ٱلْجَلَٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ ٨٧

Blessed be the name of your Lord, full of majesty and beneficience.

Blessed be the name of your Lord, the Lord of Glory and Honor!

55:78 سورة الواقعة

WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass --

When the great event comes to pass,

جب ہولے گی وہ ہونے والی (ف۲)
56:1 لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ ٢
56:2
Ahmed Ali
Which is bound to happen undoubtedly --
Shakir
There is no belying its coming to pass--

اس وقت اس کے ہونے میں کسی کو انکار کی گنجائش نہ ہوگی،
56:2 خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌ ٣
56:3
Ahmed Ali
Degrading (some) and exalting (others);
Shakir
Abasing (one party), exalting (the other),
Ahmed Raza Khan
کسی کو پست کرنے والی (ف۳) کسی کو بلندی دینے والی (ف۴)
56:3 إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ رَجًّا ٤
56:4
Ahmed Ali
When the earth is shaken up convulsively,
Shakir
When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking,
Ahmed Raza Khan
جب زمین کانپے گی تھرتھرا کر (ف۵)
56:4 وَبُسَّتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ بَسًّا ٥
56:5
Ahmed Ali
The mountains bruised and crushed,
Shakir
And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling,
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور پہاڑ ریزہ ریزہ ہوجائیں گے چُورا ہوکر
56:5 فَكَانَتْ هَبَآءً مُّنۢبَثًّا ٦
56:6
Ahmed Ali
Turned to dust, floating in the air,
Shakir
So that they shall be as scattered dust.
Ahmed Raza Khan
تو ہوجائیں گے جیسے روزن کی دھوپ میں غبار کے باریک ذرے پھیلے ہوئے
56:6 وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا ثَلَٰثَةً ٧
56:7
Ahmed Ali
You will become three categories:
Shakir
And you shall be three sorts.

اور تین قسم کے ہوجاؤ گے،
56:7 فَأَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ مَآ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ ٨
56:8
Ahmed Ali
Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand!
Shakir
Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand!

تو دہنی طرف والے (ف۶) کیسے دہنی طرف والے (ف۷)
56:8 وَأَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ ٩
56:9
Ahmed Ali
Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand!
Shakir
And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand!

اور بائیں طرف والے (ف۸) کیسے بائیں طرف والے (ف۹)
56:9 وَٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ ٠١
56:10
Ahmed Ali
Then the foremost, how pre-excellent,

And the foremost are the foremost,
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور جو سبقت لے گئے (ف۱۰) وہ تو سبقت ہی لے گئے (ف۱۱)
56:10 أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ ١١
56:11
Ahmed Ali
Who will be honoured
Shakir
These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah),
Ahmed Raza Khan
وہی مقربِ بارگاہ ہیں،
56:11 فِى جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ٢١
56:12
Ahmed Ali
In gardens of tranquility;
Shakir
In the gardens of bliss.

چین کے باغوں میں،
56:12 ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ٣١

Ahmed Ali
A number of the earlier peoples,
Shakir
A numerous company from among the first,
Ahmed Raza Khan
اگلوں میں سے ایک گروہ
56:13 وَقَلِيلٌ مِّنَ ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ ٤١
56:14
Ahmed Ali
And a few of later ages,
Shakir
And a few from among the latter.

اور پچھلوں میں سے تھوڑے (ف۱۲)
56:14 عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّوْضُونَةٍ ٥١
56:15
Ahmed Ali
On couches wrought of gold,
Shakir
On thrones decorated,
Ahmed Raza Khan
جڑاؤ تختوں پر ہوں گے (ف۱۳)
56:15 مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَٰبِلِينَ ٦١

Ahmed Ali
Reclining face to face.
Shakir
Reclining on them, facing one another.

ان پر تکیہ لگائے ہوئے آمنے سامنے (ف۱۴)

56:17 بِأَكْوَابٍ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍ ٨١

Ahmed Ali
Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine,
Shakir
With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink;

کوزے اور آفتابے اور جام اور آنکھوں کے سامنے بہتی شراب
56:18 لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ ٩١
56:19
Ahmed Ali
Unheady, uninebriating;
Shakir
They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted,
Ahmed Raza Khan
کہ اس سے نہ انہیں درد سر ہو اور نہ ہوش میں فرق آئے (ف۱۷)
56:19 وَفَٰكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ ٠٢
56:20
Ahmed Ali
And such fruits as they fancy,
Shakir
And fruits such as they choose,
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور میوے جو پسند کریں
56:20 وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ ١٢
56:21
Ahmed Ali
Bird meats that they relish,
Shakir
And the flesh of fowl such as they desire.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور پرندوں کا گوشت جو چاہیں (ف۱۸)
56:21 وَحُورٌ عِينٌ ٢٢
56:22
Ahmed Ali
And companions with big beautiful eyes
Shakir
And pure, beautiful ones,
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور بڑی آنکھ والیاں حوریں (ف۱۹)
56:22 كَأَمْثَٰلِ ٱللُّؤْلُؤِ ٱلْمَكْنُونِ ٣٢
56:23
Ahmed Ali
Like pearls within their shells,
Shakir
The like of the hidden pearls:
Ahmed Raza Khan
جیسے چھپے رکھے ہوئے موتی (ف۲۰)
56:23 جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ ٤٢
56:24
Ahmed Ali
As recompense for all they had done.
Shakir
A reward for what they used to do.
Ahmed Raza Khan
صلہ ان کے اعمال کا (ف۲۱)
56:24 لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا ٥٢
56:25
Ahmed Ali
They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin,
Shakir
They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse,
Ahmed Raza Khan
اس میں نہ سنیں گے نہ کوئی بیکار با ت نہ گنہگاری (ف۲۲)
56:25 إِلَّا قِيلًا سَلَٰمًا سَلَٰمًا ٦٢
56:26
Ahmed Ali
Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation.
Shakir
Except the word peace, peace.
Ahmed Raza Khan
ہاں یہ کہنا ہوگا سلام سلام (ف۲۳)
56:26 وَأَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ مَآ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ ٧٢
56:27
Ahmed Ali
As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand --
Shakir
And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand!

اور دہنی طرف والے کیسے دہنی طرف والے (ف۲۴)
56:27 فِى سِدْرٍ مَّخْضُودٍ ٨٢
56:28
Ahmed Ali
They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote
Shakir
Amid thornless lote-trees,
Ahmed Raza Khan
بے کانٹوں کی بیریوں میں
56:28 وَطَلْحٍ مَّنضُودٍ ٩٢
56:29
Ahmed Ali
And acacia covered with heaps of bloom,
Shakir
And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور کیلے کے گچھوں میں (ف۲۵)
56:29 وَظِلٍّ مَّمْدُودٍ ٠٣
56:30
Ahmed Ali
Lengthened shadows,
Shakir
And extended shade,
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور ہمیشہ کے سائے میں
56:30 وَمَآءٍ مَّسْكُوبٍ ١٣
56:31
Ahmed Ali
Gushing water,
Shakir
And water flowing constantly,
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور ہمیشہ جاری پانی میں
56:31 وَفَٰكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ ٢٣
56:32
Ahmed Ali
And fruits numberless,
Shakir
And abundant fruit,
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور بہت سے میووں میں
56:32 لَّا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍ ٣٣
56:33
Ahmed Ali
Unending, unforbidden,
Shakir
Neither intercepted nor forbidden,
Ahmed Raza Khan
جو نہ ختم ہوں (ف۲۶) اور نہ روکے جائیں (ف۲۷)
56:33 وَفُرُشٍ مَّرْفُوعَةٍ ٤٣
56:34
Ahmed Ali
And maidens incomparable.
Shakir
And exalted thrones.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور بلند بچھونوں میں (ف۲۸)
56:34 إِنَّآ أَنشَأْنَٰهُنَّ إِنشَآءً ٥٣
56:35
Ahmed Ali
We have formed them in a distinctive fashion,
Shakir
Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth,
Ahmed Raza Khan
بیشک ہم نے ان عورتوں کو اچھی اٹھان اٹھایا،
56:35 فَجَعَلْنَٰهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا ٦٣
56:36
Ahmed Ali
And made them virginal,
Shakir
Then We have made them virgins,
Ahmed Raza Khan
تو انہیں بنایا کنواریاں اپنے شوہر پر پیاریاں،
56:36 عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا ٧٣

Ahmed Ali
Loving companions matched in age,
Shakir
Loving, equals in age,
Ahmed Raza Khan
انہیں پیار دلائیاں ایک عمر والیاں (ف۲۹)
56:37 لِّأَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ ٨٣

Ahmed Ali
For those of the right hand.
Shakir
For the sake of the companions of the right hand.

دہنی طرف والوں کے لیے،
56:38 ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ٩٣

Ahmed Ali
A crowd of earlier generations
Shakir
A numerous company from among the first,
Ahmed Raza Khan
اگلوں میں سے ایک گروہ،
56:39 وَثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ ٠٤
56:40
Ahmed Ali
And a crowd of the later.
Shakir
And a numerous company from among the last.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور پچھلوں میں سے ایک گروہ (ف۳۰)
56:40 وَأَصْحَٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ مَآ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ ١٤
56:41
Ahmed Ali
But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand --
Shakir
And those of the left hand, how wretched are those of the left hand!

اور بائیں طرف والے (ف۳۱) کیسے بائیں طرف والے (ف۳۲)
56:41 فِى سَمُومٍ وَحَمِيمٍ ٢٤

Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water,
Shakir
In hot wind and boiling water,
Ahmed Raza Khan
جلتی ہوا اور کھولتے پانی میں،
56:42 وَظِلٍّ مِّن يَحْمُومٍ ٣٤
56:43
Ahmed Ali
Under the shadow of thick black smoke
Shakir
And the shade of black smoke,
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور جلتے دھوئیں کی چھاؤں میں (ف۳۳)
56:43 لَّا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ ٤٤
56:44
Ahmed Ali
Neither cool nor agreeable.
Shakir
Neither cool nor honorable.
Ahmed Raza Khan
جو نہ ٹھنڈی نہ عزت کی،
56:44 إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ ٥٤
56:45
Ahmed Ali
They were endowed with good things
Shakir
Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty.

بیشک وہ اس سے پہلے (ف۳۴) نعمتوں میں تھے
56:45 وَكَانُوا۟ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلْحِنثِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٦٤
56:46
Ahmed Ali
But persisted in that greater sin,
Shakir
And they persisted in the great violation.

اور اس بڑے گناہ کی (ف۳۵) ہٹ (ضد) رکھتے تھے،
56:46 وَكَانُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ ٧٤
56:47
Ahmed Ali
And said: "What! When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we then be raised again?
Shakir
And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised?
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور کہتے تھے کیا جب ہم مرجائیں اور ہڈیاں ہوجائیں تو کیا ضرور ہم اٹھائے جائیں گے،
56:47 أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ ٨٤
56:48
Ahmed Ali
And so will our fathers?"
Shakir
Or our fathers of yore?
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور کیا ہمارے اگلے باپ دادا بھی،
56:48 قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ وَٱلْءَاخِرِينَ ٩٤

Ahmed Ali
Say: "Indeed, the earlier and the later generations
Shakir
Say: The first and the last,

تم فرماؤ بیشک سب اگلے اور پچھلے
56:49 لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ ٠٥
56:50
Ahmed Ali
Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined.
Shakir
Shall most surely be gathered together for the appointed hour of a known day.

ضرور اکٹھے کیے جائیں گے، ایک جانے ہوئے دن کی میعاد پر (ف۳۶)
