سورة النجم
53:1
Ahmed Ali
I CALL TO witness the star of the pleiades when it has dipped
Shakir
I swear by the star when it goes down.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اس پیارے چمکتے تارے محمد کی قسم! جب یہ معراج سے اترے (ف۲)
53:1 مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ ٢
53:2
Ahmed Ali
That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray,
Shakir
Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray;
Ahmed Raza Khan
تمہارے صاحب نہ بہکے نہ بے راہ چلے (ف۳)
53:2 وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰٓ ٣
53:3
Ahmed Ali
Neither does he speak of his own will.
Shakir
Nor does he speak out of desire.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور وہ کوئی بات اپنی خواہش سے نہیں کرتے،
53:3 إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْىٌ يُوحَىٰ ٤
53:4
Ahmed Ali
This is only revelation communicated,
Shakir
It is naught but revelation that is revealed,
Ahmed Raza Khan
وہ تو نہیں مگر وحی جو انہیں کی جاتی ہے (ف۴)
53:4 عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِيدُ ٱلْقُوَىٰ ٥
53:5
Ahmed Ali
Bestowed on him by the Supreme Intellect,
Shakir
The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him,
Ahmed Raza Khan
انہیں (ف۵) سکھایا (ف۶) سخت قوتوں والے طاقتور نے (ف۷)
53:5 ذُو مِرَّةٍ فَٱسْتَوَىٰ ٦
53:6
Ahmed Ali
Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance,
Shakir
The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion,
Ahmed Raza Khan
پھر اس جلوہ نے قصد فرمایا (ف۸)
53:6 وَهُوَ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ ٧
53:7
Ahmed Ali
And reached the highest pinnacle.
Shakir
And he is in the highest part of the horizon.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور وہ آسمان بریں کے سب سے بلند کنارہ پر تھا (ف۹)
53:7 ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ ٨
53:8
Ahmed Ali
Then he drew near and drew closer
Shakir
Then he drew near, then he bowed
Ahmed Raza Khan
پھر وہ جلوہ نزدیک ہوا (ف۱۰) پھر خوب اتر آیا (ف۱۱)
53:8 فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ ٩
53:9
Ahmed Ali
Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained,
Shakir
So he was the measure of two bows or closer still.
Ahmed Raza Khan
تو اس جلوے اور اس محبوب میں دو ہاتھ کا فاصلہ رہا بلکہ اس سے بھی کم (ف۱۲)
53:9 فَأَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِۦ مَآ أَوْحَىٰ ٠١
53:10
Ahmed Ali
When He revealed to His votary what He revealed.
Shakir
And He revealed to His servant what He revealed.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اب وحی فرمائی اپنے بندے کو جو وحی فرمائی (ف۱۳)
53:10 مَا كَذَبَ ٱلْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰٓ ١١
53:11
Ahmed Ali
His heart did not falsify what he perceived.
Shakir
The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw.
Ahmed Raza Khan
دل نے جھوٹ نہ کہا جو دیکھا (ف۱۴)
53:11 أَفَتُمَٰرُونَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ ٢١
53:12
Ahmed Ali
Will you dispute with him what he saw?
Shakir
What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw?
Ahmed Raza Khan
تو کیا تم ان سے ان کے دیکھے ہوئے پر جھگڑ تے ہو (ف۱۵)
53:12 وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ ٣١
53:13
Ahmed Ali
He saw Him indeed another time
Shakir
And certainly he saw him in another descent,
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور انہوں نے تو وہ جلوہ دوبار دیکھا (ف۱۶)
53:13 عِندَ سِدْرَةِ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ ٤١
53:14
Ahmed Ali
By the Lote-tree beyond which none can pass,
Shakir
At the farthest lote-tree;
Ahmed Raza Khan
سدرة المنتہیٰ کے پاس (ف۱۷)
53:14 عِندَهَا جَنَّةُ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰٓ ٥١
53:15
Ahmed Ali
Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility,
Shakir
Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اس کے پاس جنت الماویٰ ہے،
53:15 إِذْ يَغْشَى ٱلسِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ ٦١
53:16
Ahmed Ali
When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over;
Shakir
When that which covers covered the lote-tree;
Ahmed Raza Khan
جب سدرہ پر چھا رہا تھا جو چھا رہا تھا (ف۱۸)
53:16 مَا زَاغَ ٱلْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ ٧١
53:17
Ahmed Ali
Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds.
Shakir
The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit.
Ahmed Raza Khan
آنکھ نہ کسی طرف پھر نہ حد سے بڑھی (ف۱۹)
53:17 لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ ٨١
53:18
Ahmed Ali
Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord.
Shakir
Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord.
Ahmed Raza Khan
بیشک اپنے رب کی بہت بڑی نشانیاں دیکھیں (ف۲۰)
53:18 أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱللَّٰتَ وَٱلْعُزَّىٰ ٩١
53:19
Ahmed Ali
Have you considered Lat and ´Uzza,
Shakir
Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza,
Ahmed Raza Khan
تو کیا تم نے دیکھ ا لات اور عزیٰ
53:19 وَمَنَوٰةَ ٱلثَّالِثَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ ٠٢
53:20
Ahmed Ali
And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)?
Shakir
And Manat, the third, the last?
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور اس تیسری منات کو (ف۲۱)
53:20 أَلَكُمُ ٱلذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ ١٢
53:21
Ahmed Ali
Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him?
Shakir
What! for you the males and for Him the females!
Ahmed Raza Khan
کیا تم کو بیٹا اور اس کو بیٹی (ف۲۲)
53:21 تِلْكَ إِذًا قِسْمَةٌ ضِيزَىٰٓ ٢٢
53:22
Ahmed Ali
This is certainly an unjust apportioning.
Shakir
This indeed is an unjust division!
Ahmed Raza Khan
جب تو یہ سخت بھونڈی تقسیم ہے (ف۲۳)
53:22 إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّآ أَسْمَآءٌ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَٰنٍ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهْوَى ٱلْأَنفُسُ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ ٣٢
53:23
Ahmed Ali
These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord.
Shakir
They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord.
Ahmed Raza Khan
وہ تو نہیں مگر کچھ نام کہ تم نے اور تمہارے باپ دادا نے رکھ لیے ہیں (ف۲۴) اللہ نے ان کی کوئی سند نہیں اتاری، وہ تو نرے گمان اور نفس کی خواہشوں کے پیچھے ہیں (ف۲۵) حالانکہ بیشک ان کے پاس ان کے رب کی طرف سے ہدایت آئی (ف۲۶)
53:23 أَمْ لِلْإِنسَٰنِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ ٤٢
53:24
Ahmed Ali
Can ever man get what he desires?
Shakir
Or shall man have what he wishes?
Ahmed Raza Khan
کیا آدمی کو مل جائے گا جو کچھ وہ خیال باندھے (ف۲۷)
53:24 فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْءَاخِرَةُ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ ٥٢
53:25
Ahmed Ali
To God belong the End and the Beginning.
Shakir
Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life).
Ahmed Raza Khan
تو آخرت اور دنیا سب کا مالک اللہ ہی ہے (ف۲۸)
53:25 ۞ وَكَم مِّن مَّلَكٍ فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ لَا تُغْنِى شَفَٰعَتُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ أَن يَأْذَنَ ٱللَّهُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرْضَىٰٓ ٦٢
53:26
Ahmed Ali
Many as the angels be in heaven their intercession will not avail in the least without God´s permission for whomsoever He please and approve.
Shakir
And how many an angel is there in the heavens whose intercession does not avail at all except after Allah has given permission to whom He pleases and chooses.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور کتنے ہی فرشتے ہیں آسمانوں میں کہ ان کی سفارش کچھ کام نہیں آتی مگر جبکہ اللہ اجازت دے دے جس کے لیے چاہے اور پسند فرمائے (ف۲۹)
53:26

لَيُسَمُّونَ
ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ
تَسْمِيَةَ

Ahmed Ali
Those who do not believe in the Hereafter give the angels names of females.
Shakir
Most surely they who do not believe in the hereafter name the angels with female names.
Ahmed Raza Khan
بیشک وہ جو آخرت پر ایمان رکھتے نہیں (ف۳۰) ملائکہ کا نام عورتوں کا سا رکھتے ہیں (ف۳۱)
53:27 وَمَا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ شَيْـًٔا ٨٢
53:28
Ahmed Ali
Yet they have no knowledge of this, and follow nothing but conjecture, but conjecture cannot replace the truth.
Shakir
And they have no knowledge of it; they do not follow anything but conjecture, and surely conjecture does not avail against the truth at all.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور انہیں اس کی کچھ خبر نہیں، وہ تو نرے گمان کے پیچھے ہیں، اور بیشک گمان یقین کی جگہ کچھ کام نہیں دیتا (ف۳۲)
53:28 فَأَعْرِضْ عَن مَّن تَوَلَّىٰ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّا ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا ٩٢
53:29
Ahmed Ali
So you turn away from him who turns away from Our rememberance and wants nothing but the life of this world:
Shakir
Therefore turn aside from him who turns his back upon Our reminder and does not desire anything but this world´s life.
Ahmed Raza Khan
تو تم اس سے منہ پھیر لو، جو ہماری یاد سے پھرا (ف۳۳) اور اس نے نہ چاہی مگر دنیا کی زندگی (ف۳۴)
53:29 ذَٰلِكَ مَبْلَغُهُم مِّنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ ٠٣
53:30
Ahmed Ali
This is the farthest limit of their knowledge. Surely your Lord alone knows best who has strayed away from the path and who has come to guidance.
Shakir
That is their goal of knowledge; surely your Lord knows best him who goes astray from His path and He knows best him who follows the right direction.
Ahmed Raza Khan
یہاں تک ان کے علم کی پہنچ ہے (ف۳۵) بیشک تمہارا خوب جانتا ہے جو اس کی راہ سے بہکا اور وہ خوب جانتا ہے جس نے راہ پائی،
53:30 وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسَٰٓـُٔوا۟ بِمَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ بِٱلْحُسْنَى ١٣
53:31
Ahmed Ali
To God belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth, that He may requite those who do evil, in accordance with their deeds, and those who do good with good.
Shakir
And Allah´s is what is in the heavens and what is in the earth, that He may reward those who do evil according to what they do, and (that) He may reward those who do good with goodness.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور اللہ ہی کا ہے جو کچھ آسمانوں میں ہے اور جو کچھ زمین میں تاکہ برائی کرنے والوں کو ان کے کیے کا بدلہ دے اور نیکی کرنے والوں کو نہایت اچھا صلہ عطا فرمائے،
53:31 ٱلَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَٰٓئِرَ ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ إِلَّا ٱللَّمَمَ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ وَٰسِعُ ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِذْ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِذْ أَنتُمْ أَجِنَّةٌ فِى بُطُونِ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ فَلَا تُزَكُّوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰٓ ٢٣
53:32
Ahmed Ali
As for those who avoid the greater sins and shameful acts, except minor trespasses, your Lord´s forgiveness surely has great amplitude. He is fully knowledgeable of you as He produced you from the earth, and since you were a foetus in your mother´s womb. So do not assert your goodness; he is better who takes heed and preserves himself.
Shakir
Those who keep aloof from the great sins and the indecencies but the passing idea; surely your Lord is liberal in forgiving. He knows you best when He brings you forth from the earth and when you are embryos in the wombs of your mothers; therefore do not attribute purity to your souls; He knows him best who guards (against evil).
Ahmed Raza Khan
وہ جو بڑے گناہوں اور بے حیائیوں سے بچتے ہیں (ف۳۶) مگر اتنا کہ گناہ کے پاس گئے اور رک گئے (ف۳۷) بیشک تمہارے رب کی مغفرت وسیع ہے، وہ تمہیں خوب جانتا ہے (ف۳۸) تمہیں مٹی سے پیدا کیا اور جب تم اپنی ماؤں کے پیٹ میں حمل تھے، تو آپ اپنی جانوں کو ستھرا نہ بتاؤ (ف۳۹) وہ خوب جانتا ہے جو پرہیزگار ہیں (ف۴۰)
53:32 أَفَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى تَوَلَّىٰ ٣٣
53:33
Ahmed Ali
Have you seen him who turns his back,
Shakir
Have you then seen him who turns his back?
Ahmed Raza Khan
تو کیا تم نے دیکھا جو پھر گیا (ف۴۱)
53:33 وَأَعْطَىٰ قَلِيلًا وَأَكْدَىٰٓ ٤٣
53:34
Ahmed Ali
Who gives but little, and is niggardly?
Shakir
And gives a little and (then) withholds.
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور کچھ تھوڑا سا دیا اور روک رکھا (ف۴۲)
53:34 أَعِندَهُۥ عِلْمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰٓ ٥٣
53:35
Ahmed Ali
Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything?
Shakir
Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see?
Ahmed Raza Khan
کیا اس کے پاس غیب کا علم ہے تو وہ دیکھ رہا ہے (ف۴۳)
53:35 أَمْ لَمْ يُنَبَّأْ بِمَا فِى صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ ٦٣
53:36
Ahmed Ali
Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses,
Shakir
Or, has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Musa?
Ahmed Raza Khan
کیا اسے اس کی خبر نہ آئی جو صحیفوں میں ہے موسیٰ کے (ف۴۴)
53:36 وَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٱلَّذِى وَفَّىٰٓ ٧٣
53:37
Ahmed Ali
And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? --
Shakir
And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments):
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور ابراہیم کے جو پورے احکام بجالایا (ف۴۵)
53:37 أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ ٨٣
53:38
Ahmed Ali
That no one who carries a burden bears another´s load;
Shakir
That no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another-
Ahmed Raza Khan
کہ کوئی بوجھ اٹھانے والی جان دوسری کا بوجھ نہیں اٹھاتی (ف۴۶)
53:38 وَأَن لَّيْسَ لِلْإِنسَٰنِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ ٩٣
53:39
Ahmed Ali
That a man receives but only that for which he strives;
Shakir
And that man shall have nothing but what he strives for-
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور یہ کہ آدمی نہ پاے گا مگر اپنی کوشش (ف۴۷)
53:39 وَأَنَّ سَعْيَهُۥ سَوْفَ يُرَىٰ ٠٤
53:40
Ahmed Ali
That his endeavours will be judged,
Shakir
And that his striving shall soon be seen-
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور یہ کہ اس کی کو شش عنقر یب دیکھی جاے گی (ف۴۸)
53:40 ثُمَّ يُجْزَىٰهُ ٱلْجَزَآءَ ٱلْأَوْفَىٰ ١٤
53:41
Ahmed Ali
And only then will he receive his recompense in full;
Shakir
Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward-
Ahmed Raza Khan
پھر اس کا بھرپور بدلا دیا جائے گا
53:41 وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ ٢٤
53:42
Ahmed Ali
And that to your Lord is your returning;
Shakir
And that to your Lord is the goal-
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور یہ کہ بیشک تمہارے رب ہی کی طرف انتہا ہے (ف۴۹)
53:42 وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَضْحَكَ وَأَبْكَىٰ ٣٤
53:43
Ahmed Ali
That it is He who makes you happy and morose,
Shakir
And that He it is Who makes (men) laugh and makes (them) weep;
Ahmed Raza Khan
اور یہ کہ وہی ہے جس نے ہنسایا اور رلایا (ف۵۰)
53:43 وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحْيَا ٤٤
53:44
Ahmed Ali
And He who ordains death and life;
Shakir
And that He it is Who causes death and gives life-

اور یہ کہ وہی ہے جس نے مارا اور جِلایا (ف۵۱)
